Who cares if we are #1? We keep winning we will go to the NC game and end up #1 when its most important.
As much as I hate USC, they didn't play this weekend, so there is no way they should rightfully lose the number 1 spot. As for Herbstreit, as far as I could here, he was all over us with praise throughout the entire game. Who cares what the hell he thinks? Bottomline is that there is still plenty of tough football to be played and we haven't begun to scratch the surface. MTSU proved to Louisville that they will not be a pushover. South Carolina beat a ranked Georgia team. Tulane is, well, next question. Florida will be the true test. I could go on and on. I'd rather be the number 2 team for the rest of the season and be number 1 when it really matters - after we win the National Title.
Mark May argued with Rece on College Gameday Final insisting USC remain number one. Not surprising. Expected May to keep that up. About to go watch the game and listen to Herbie call it (always listen to Jim and Doug on the radio even the game is on television).. shocked after that performance he would still choose USC. I guess I should not be. Former players both say USC should not lose their number one ranking. Perhaps that plays a part in it. Chris Fowler said he would vote LSU number one, I believe, as well. Brian ~Go Tigers!~
I'm not sure why we care so much. Their reasoning isn't that great but look, we win the games things will take care of themselves. We aren't Auburn.
I personally couldn't give a rat's a.. what any of them say about us. What drives me crazy is the influence. Some of it will work itself out throughout the season. But, the poll voters have power and influence, which makes it more of a frustration. That is why I am asking what it takes.
I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir, but it would sure be a lot better if the polls didn't come out until at least October 1st.
Having watched the game and GameDay again, I think Herbie is (reading between the lines here) saying the Techsters are a tad o-ver-ra-ted. Specifically, he thinks that offense is junk as they do not have a decent QB at the moment. He all but said Glennon was mentally out to lunch and the true frosh still too green to make much of a difference right now. Whatever. Again, who freaking cares what "they" say. As long as LSU takes care of its own business, it'll get the chance to win a title on the field.
do any of you think the fan noise had anything to do with Glennon being shaken? there was a lot of noise in that stadium in the first half last night. he came to the game with some trepidation about playing in tiger stadium. i think between that and the noise, he completely psyched himself out.
