Scared? Tries to avoid contact? You are making this crap up. Show me a play where he ran away in fear. Just one.

I'm expecting Welter to blow up this year just like Minter, Sheppard, Riley, etc did after getting a season under their belt. Less thinking & more hitting. We'll see.

Well according to most, the main reason Welter started was because he knew the most. If that was true, I would think he should be the one who was thinking the less already.

Last year the staff seemed to want to hold back some of the DL players. Names like Bain, Patterson, Herron, Gilmore. LaCouture came in the Spring and was used, did a good job just coming out of high school. It's hell on a kid just coming out of high school, the line at times will have a +300# lineman beating on you all game, it takes a toll on a young body. Lewis Neal also came in last year and made it into 10 games. Neal finished with 7 tackles, .5 tfl, .5 sacks and 1 QB hurry.
Would have like to see Jordan Allen stay for another year. Justin Maclin will be on his Sr year, injuries have limited his play, would like to see him get a little more playing time in.

As for the new guys coming in the Fall with the incoming class. Goudchaux and Trey Lmao, looks to be two that know how to play. the real kicker is Valentine, double and triple teamed most of his time in high school, he's had people on him. I got time to make it over to the US Army game and see him play. No doubt he can hang with the best of them, for a guy his size, has a quick first step, gets into the backfield, moves well for a kid that big. A little more on him.....

Remember, one of the better DT at LSU, Red-Shirted his first year, played only two years before being drafted as the 14th player taken in the first round. Brockers left LSU still having his Jr and Sr years playable.

As much as anything Chief likes to have the CB lock down the WR's, with Tre' and RR, he has what he wants on the outside, allowing him to beat our 9 against their 9. Has done well over the years.

We have two of the better bookends with Rasco and Hunter, both can hang with anyone. Last year Missouri won the SECE with two good bookends (Sam and Ealy).

Remember Luke Sanders? (From West Monroe) Played for Saban. Was the starting MLB in 2003 when we won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. All the message board geeks were saying the exact same things about Sanders as they are now of Welter.

Why was Saban playing him? He's too slow.

Why is Chavis playing Welter? He's too slow.

Because your MLB has to be the QB of the defense and make sure that everybody else knows WTF is going on and what their calls/responsibilities are even if said MLB is not as "Athletic" as you'd like.

Who knows more about defense than Saban and Chavis? Not anybody here or over at the looney bin insane asylum. (td.com)

    Who pissed in your Cheerios?

But too your point, being that the coaches are perfect, there is no need for this forum then. Clearly nothing to talk or debate about.

you apparently don't watch games, you just look up the stat sheet

4 out of every 5 plays you can plainly see Welter timidly working his way towards the action, allowing others to "hopefully" make the tackle so he doesn't have to

there are others on here who can back this claim up...if they are willing to speak up

Not quite...what you see as timid is more that he was slow and weak. Like Freak Johnson it seemed he had bad feet and poor ability to fend off blocks.
I saw him as not strong enough to take on blockers, shed them and make a un assisted tackle most of the time. In the bowl game he was able to do so a couple of times.
No player at this level of the game is timid and to claim to know what is in his mind is not right.. You are putting yourself inside the kid's head and that doesn't work.
