I think our offense will be good, but there are definite question marks. My primary concern is can we develop our young WRs enough by the VT game to be multi-dimensional. IMO, this comes down to Byrd stepping up immediately to give the other guys a little extra time. Other questions are the TEs we are bringing in, but I think atleast one of them will really step up (Corbin is who I'm most excited to see). Also, how good of a leader will Flynn be if we're losing & only have 2 minutes to drive down the field? We don't know yet, but I think he'll be fine. Crowton has a good history of improving the offense in his first year, so I'm not too worried about him implementing his system. He does a good job of working with what he has.

For defense, our Dline is going to be mean - really mean. LBs should be improved & very good. I think our safety position will be fine, but you have to be concerned that their youth & inexperience will lead to a few big plays for the other team.

Overall, I expect we should win the West & go to the SECCG. I'd like to see us win the SECCG & that should put us in contention for the NC...

I expect 1-2 regular season losses. We've gotten to the point that this should be about the norm unless there are extenuating circumstances for a given season.

    1. no fricking clue.
    2. yes, they were improved by the end of last year. remember that game winning td in arkansas?
    3. yes, they were improved by the end of last year. also, it's basically all the same guys which = nothing but good things for us.
    4. i hope we all know that steltz is going to be good enough. mccray looked good last year as well. it is our biggest "weakness" on defense, but it's not really weak.
    5. yes.

You want my opinion? Here it goes:

I think 10-2 is realistic, but don't rule out a National Championship. Our defense will be VERY strong. Our offense will come out a little rusty, but will be playing championship caliber football by the time we get to the "meat and potatoes" portion of our schedule. Most of our tough games are at home this year. That is very important. If we had that luxury last year, LSU would have been playing OSU in the National Championship game.

I agree with cajdav in that Dickson will shine this year. I spoke with Dickson and he told me that he and Flynn loves him as a big target. Richard Dickson will be a household name next year.

I know alot of you are Keiland Williams fans, but sometimes I think that ya'll don't realize what a stud this guy is. He is a tremendous runner with great ability and vision. He will be a SUPERSTAR under Crowton. He will stay fresh with Hester, Broussard and the healthy stable of back that we have spelling him. I am very comfortable saying that he will be the 2nd best runningback in the SEC (behind McFadden).

Much like Percy Harvin in Florida, I think Terrance Toliver will make an immediate impact and help fill the hole that losing Bowe and Davis left behind. He has all the makings of being a very special part of this offense....and quick.

Matt Flynn will be the starter. We all know what this guy is capable of. He is a very smart, very athletic and very decisive QB. Matt Flynn, according to Richard Dickson, is the most athletic QB on the team (yes, even more so than Ryan Perilloux). I know this sounds crazy, but it came straight from the mouth of a starter (2nd team all SEC TE as a true freshman) on the team. I believe what he tells me.

In all, our defense will be one of the nastiest in the NCAA. They will carry us in the beginning of the season while our offense finds it's bearings. Once our offense finds it's bearings, LSU will be a National Championship caliber team. I look forward to this season. I look forward to watching Coach Les Miles do his thing, and I am excited about Gary Crowton as well. This will be a great season.

Dickson will benefit from putting on some meat since last year, and should be very good. But we will still need one of the freshmen to step it up & offer some different looks. Zinger will be back, but I don't know if he'll be healthy enough to be a starter.

Don't forget about Murphy! I'm so excited to see this guy. He's going to do a lot for our offense as a change of pace back from those other guys, and will likely catch quite a few passes out of the backfield too. But I think most would agree that Keiland is going to be awesome. I especially can't wait to see him with an improved Oline under Coach Stud, and much better TE blocking. He's going to be awesome.

I will be curious how we use Toliver, as in what type of routes will we typically see him run. Right now, his weakness is beating the jam so we may see more swing type passes at first & eventually more downfield routes. Byrd runs a 4.3 and is pretty strong, so I think he'll do a good job of stepping into be a good compliment to Early right away.

We have to replace 2 of the 5 starters from last year.

Im glad to see those responses, cause for me, a realistic season would be a 10-2. I was afraid that most would classify a NC as a must, but glad our fans are realistic. (unlike some delusional fans I wont say who they are. Tell you what, there I'll say it, <expletive deleted> Bama fans:rofl:   )

I definately don't like playing Virginia Tech so early in the season but I believe we will come away with a win. Nevertheless, VT, Auburn and Florida are the three games that cause me concern. However, the home schedule is definately in LSU's favor and the Tigers may have the best opportunity in years to run the table on our SEC opponents. Having lost to both Auburn and Florida last year, I am sure the Tigers will be anxious to avenge that loss on their home field. If we get past those three games, LSU should go undefeated and play in the SEC championship game. It is hard to predict how that will turn out until I know who we will be playing. But the general feeling is that LSU has a genuine shot to play in the NC game, and that impression is a legitimate one. I predict LSU will go 11-1 for the regular season simply because going undefeated in the SEC is so tough. But the Tigers will win the division title and play in the SECCG. I think anything less than 11-1 will be a bit of a disappointment considering the home schedule and the talent level of the team. That is not to say that a 10-2 season would be unacceptable. It would not, but IMO it will be a bit of a disappointment.

I think winning the SEC is important next year. If Les gets another 10 or 11 win season & doesn't get a championship people are going to start saying he can't win the big one etc.

Wins are nice, but championships are better.

    I wouldn't doubt 11-1.

As with any year, my biggest worry is injury. If the Tigers' key players stay healthy, they should have an awesome year (assuming Les limits their reading of all the love they're gonna get in the media).

I think this fall is gonna be some fun.

When expectations are high, two things can happen. One is very difficult to do.

I've predicted 2 losses in the regular season the last 2 years, and the team bested my prediction in 05 on some crazy exciting plays by Russell, Doucet, Bowe.

This year I will forecast only 1 loss. Our defensive front 7 is going to be THAT GOOD! I'd like more depth at linebacker, but it may prove itself to be there. We have to find 2 safties, but I believe we can.

On offense, we should be very good. I think we'll be solid on the line. The treat I look most forward to is Keiland running the ball. This could be a special year. I hope Alley makes a significant contribution, and Murphy, and Hester.

We know Doucet is great, LaFell should be better, and Byrd and Tolliver, welll that could be special also.

Whoever wins the QB job will have a lot of fun playing in that offense, IMO.

10-2 or 12-0 would not surprise me that much either.
