Obviously Id hate to lose any of the games, but there is one team whose fans I never like to see happy after they beat us, and that is Auburn. My God how I despise some (not all but probably most) of their fans. Plus anytime Tubby cracks a smile from a victory against us I cringe. I agree, and might I add that every time they play at home, one of the announcers comment on how "this is the smartest crowd in college football" because they (the crowd) get loud when VT is on defense and they become silent when VT is on offense. Give me a break, every football fan in the country does this.
My First Post: Flip Wilson used to say "the devil made me do it." I used to respect Alabama and its fans but . . . $atan made me do it. I would most hate to lose to Alabama. My 2nd through 12th most hateful games to lose would be whoever is playing Alabama when we aren't. Then 13 would be our game with Auburn. Happiness would be watching NowImaCashKing $atan throw up on the sidelines late in the third quarter as we lead 77-0, followed by a mid 4th quarter convulsion when we pushed it to 99-0 and then finally, at game's end after a 106-0 win, watching him literally go mad, rip off all his clothes and drop to all fours while eating turf, foaming at the mouth and bleeding from the eyes. . . . . . . not that I have anythig against the guy.o: :angryfire
Bama, has nothing to do with Saban though. My wife is a huge Bama fan and I have to hear it for a LONG time when Bama wins.
As an outsider peeking in, I'm thinking 11-1 is very possible. I also think a loss to Florida, Auburn, even Bama, will be written off as "a match of titans" by the press... so I look at games that could truly damage your RPI and @Kentucky stands out like a sore thumb... all wedged in there between your big games with Florida and Auburn. A loss there would sting.
Then let me rephrase . . . losing that game would take us out of the all-important top-2 in the BCS. We could get back in after dropping to 7 or 8, but it would take control out of our hands and make us dependent on more losses among the top-5.
Oh, I was just disagreeing with you to mess with you! I don't wanna lose ANY games, but I think a conference game would be worse...particularly the SECCG. That would kill any chance, IMHO...unless we went in undefeated and #1, and lost a close game to a 2 or 3 loss team...and there were no other undefeated teams.
Are we for sure going to be in the top 2 BCS? Is there a model or something that predicts this? As we all know what happens in the polls doesn't always reflect in the BCS.
A lot of preseason predictions have us #2, with USC being #1. With the VT game so early, I think Red is safe to assume we'll be in the top 2 at the time. edit---FWIW, the BCS polls won't even be out at the time we play VT.
That's my point. I don't think it is released until some time in October. A lot will happen with teams SOS's and other variables for those computer models to chew on. It's a bit early to claim a VT loss will tarnish our MNC run. Unless of course VT continues to go undefeated. An early LSU loss is better than a November LSU loss.
Werd. LSU hasn't lost a November game in a LONG time, therefore we have finished in the Top 5 the last couple of years. It's also the reason we were able to achieve the MNC in '03.
