Now why would you say that to all Bama fans. I have been very complimentary of your team and your fans, have not "rubbed anything in", and have said absolutely NOTHING NEGATIVE.

I can tell you what happened to Auburn and Tennessee. There are three ingredients to being successful in college football.

    1. Recruiting 2. Development 3. Coaching

At some point over the last few years these teams have slipped in one or more of these three areas. And in the SEC it doesn't take much "slipping" in any area for any length of time to make a dramatic impact on the field.

In Auburn's case I'd say they've slipped in development and coaching. They've never been one to have high recruiting classes. But they've always been able to take the class they've got and develop some very good players. I think the loss of Muschamp and drastic change in offensive philosophies was too much change in one off season to make a seamless transition. I mean really, how can anyone be shocked that Auburn has struggled with all the changes they've made in ONE offseason?

Regarding Tennessee. They've seemed to have had problems in all three areas for quite some time now. Ainge didn't develop into the qb everyone was thinking he would even under Cutcliffe, and Cutcliffe is one helluva of qb's coach. Their recruiting hasn't been as consistently strong as it was in the 90's and I just think Fat FEEL has made some bad bad hiring decisions when it comes to offensive cordinators (outside of Cutcliffe).

Plus other teams have improved in above mentioned areas.

From what I have read on here, rival fans are encouraged to post here. I haven't done any gloating even though I suffered here thru 3 bitter defeats.

    Good God.... :rolleye33:

We have better coaches, better players, better recruits, and better standards.

Auburn's primary problem has been injuries, by the dozens, ..... probably the worst year for the injury bug that I can remember since the early eighties.

Auburn has experienced 43 injuries that have caused players to miss time thus far this season. Worse still, many of the injuries have removed key leadership from the team. (e.g. LB Tray Blackmon, CB Aairon Savage, QB Chris Todd, etc.) Eight starters have been lost for the season on a team that was already considered "young" and inexperienced by SEC standards.

For example, Auburn only returned 2 Cornerbacks with any playing experience. One of them, CB Aairon Savage, was lost for the season prior to the first game. His backup, a pure freshman named Neiko Thorpe, was also lost for several games and was backfilled by another pure freshman. In some cases, the starters began the season at 3rd on the depth chart, if they were on the depth chart at all.

Our only remaining CB with experience, CB Jerraud Powers, was also out for several games and returned at about 85% last week. The fact that he returned to play against homecoming opponent UT Martin should give you an indication of how bad it has been ..... You simply don't compete against the better SEC teams when you're that thin, especially in the secondary.

AU's starting QB was never able to recover from offseason shoulder surgury, and our backup QB Kodi Burns is as green as grass.

Neophyte quarterbacks at LSU, Tennessee , and USC have been going through similar QB-related challenges, while seasoned QB's at Alabama , Florida, and Georgia are making fewer mistakes and experiencing greater success.

The reality is ..... it doesn't matter if Vince Lomabardi was coaching Joe Montana ....... you're simply not going to compete in the SEC if you've sustained as many injuries as Auburn has experienced this season .... all the rest is simply speculative jibber-jabber

    TheDude I'm calmer than you.

Well I hope Auburn bounces back next year. As much as I dislike that team on gameday, it is weird watching them lose games like this. A competitive Auburn is good for the SEC, just like bama.
