So the West becomes even more ridiculously competitive, while the East adds a couple more pansies. Nah, d'rather not.
The east adding Florida state would be a quality addition to the east and wvu or ATM would be a quality win for us yearly.
16 team SEC I say get the best that can be had. No weak sisters. Texas & Texas A&M in the SEC West and Clemson & Fla St in the SEC East. Great tradition, atmosphere, and competitiveness in all of these schools.
Heard an interview with Slive about a week ago and he was asked about the expansion issue. My interpretation of his comments were that the SEC is not "looking" to expand but is actively involved in evaluating the movements/direction of other conferences. Basically, if the all of the other BCS conferences expand to 14-16 teams, then the SEC may do the same. If the Aggies and Horns ever split into different conferences, that would create a dynamic that would be difficult to predict. The Horns would continue to be a premier athletic institution and the Aggies could either go up or down.
It would frustrate everyone having 10 traditional top-10 contenders in a 16-team league. It makes no sense to me.
We like the status quo. We rule the status quo. If there is expansion in the SEC it will be because the Pac-12, Big 10, or both expanded first. Given that, I would rather not pillage the ACC. Taking a couple of their schools, which likely would be strong ones, would be a painful blow. Especially if they have to find a way to expand to 16 as well. I don't think any of us wants to live in a world in which there are 3 relevant conferences and 2 of them send their champions to the Rose Bowl.
