If we win out, I'm sure TC will be along and let us know it's because of luck and because teams played down to us. The coordinators did their jobs and CLM couldn't have led us to a championship of any kind because he talks dumb. Am I close?
For the highlighted part, I think it is false perception. What I saw on the field in 2008 and 2009 was a lack of confidence in what the players were doing. In other words, holding on for dear life. 2008, the O was always playing catch-up b/c of Lee’s pics. Also, the D was just flat lost. The Co-coordinator was a nightmare and the nightmare was felt by the players who seemed to never know WTF was going on. 2009 was slightly better, but JJ was the one who mostly seemed clueless. Plus, the O line couldn’t block for S***. The D was loads better, but it seemed we lacked the talent in D line. We need a monster on that line that can take some double teams. Though, everything I see from practice and so on shows me these guys are having some intense practices with a lot of pep –in-there-step. Much different from 2009 and 2008.. They have swagger this year. While it wont necessarily relate to wins, but it will mean a much more physical team than the 2 years passed. Just my 2 cents.
I agree with you LSUpride. The O-line could neither protect Jefferson or block for running backs last year. JJ at times looked very good to me, when he wasnt running for his life. If JJ hadnt twisted his ankle at bama, that game may have turned out differently - and why did he twist his ankle - running for his life. Give JJ an O-line that he can trust and that can somewhat establish a run, and we will be in great shape - at least much improved from last year. Seems like from what I've read, they have been focusing on running game, so I believe we will see a difference this year. And on the D-side of the ball, a 4 man rush for LSU meant NO pressure on the opposing quarterback. A 5-man rush barely got pressure on the opposing QB. I hated to see an opposing QB drop back and LSU rush with 4 guys, because I knew he was going to get a very good look at the field. I am hopeful that our new DE's will change that. I am sooo ready for some football!!!! :geauxtige
I may be completely naive, but here is my take on the last couple of years at LSU. I think there were several players that were angry with Miles for kicking Perrilloux off of the team and from that point forward they simply went through the motions, did what they could to avoid injuries, put little real effort in on gameday, and thought they were "made men" in terms of getting a big fat NFL contract. I am not saying that the majority of the team was this way, but just enough players to translate into winding up on the wrong side of the score for a few close games each season. Now that the Perilloux Posse is gone, I think we have a chance to see real LSU football again for a change.
My take on 07,08,09 07 - was a great year to be a Tiger. The Hog game broke my heart and our D let us down. but we got Tenn and beat them with our back-up QB we got a very good OSU team and beat them with Les Miles players and staff Les won the SEC and the BCS crowns!!! 08 - No QB and the DC pair was a mess - both issues go on Les not a average SEC football team 09 - Better on D and Les made moves to get better - OL was woeful and no running game with young QB play - gave a Great Bama team all they wanted at thier house 10- I think this might be the best Les team - if we can run the ball
Good enough points on what may be coming. But from a natural talent standpoint, this team has a receiving core that compares to LSU's D-backs. It's just where the better and more plentiful athletics happen to reside. When the going gets tough, what to do. And LSU always had a running game when they played Bama.
