I heard the dude who predicted this, has now changed his prediction to October.... Harold Camping: Rapture Rescheduled for October 21, Twitter Laughs On | WebProNews
This is only marginally true. The Catholic Church does not require any specific instruction during the Pre-Cana. The rules of vary from diocese to diocese and certain preists may have exemptions from teaching things the diocese requires. Additionally the Church has not taught the rhythm method in about 60 years. The Church forbids artificial contraception and barriers, but does allow for natural family planning. The rhythm method was an early form of Natural Family Planning, but is unreliable, especially for women with irregular cycles, and has not been recommended since the early 1950s. Since then the Billings Method and the Sympto-Thermal method have been the most commonly taught methods. Both require daily observations for signs of fertility, and can be used by to prevent or achieve pregnancy. Perfect use of the rhythm method is clinically stated to be around 95% and that is for women who are regular enough to use it, but perfect use of fertility awareness methods is about 99% which is comparable to most forms of the pill.
Well that makes sense...I only know what I and my friends have experenced. Well my friends and I are 30ish and we all got the lesson so..... Oh...well maybe that was what they taught us
Difference being the RM is based on abstaing for a period of days after menstruation to avoid pregnancy. Sympto-Thermal and Billings are based on observations of basal body temperature and cervical mucus. Depending on the fertility signs these could greatly reduce the period of abstinece to avoid pregnancy. The menstual cycle has 4 distinct phases (blood for 5-7 days, infertile for 0-3 days, fertile for 3-5 days, infertile fo 15-20 days) and women are fertile during only one of them.
Not quite sure what you are getting at. Are you talking about avoiding or acheiving pregnancy? The rhythm method basically teaches that to avoid pregnancy to abstain from sex for the first 20 days of your cycle. This is only accurate for women whose cycles are only 26-33days long. The best advice for getting pregnant is to have sex on days when you are producing a lot of stretchy cervical mucus. You produce this stuff when you are ovulating or about to be ovulating. If you aren't producing it at all increase your intake of vitamin A.
