I thought Pre Cana was actually pretty cool. Mine was just a classroom at the diocese in Lafayette. They did some teambuilding things, and some tests, and other class room stuff, but it was all very interesting. The father that married us though...... I have never been that creeped out in my life. The stuff this dude told us was shocking coming from him. It's nothing I haven't seen or heard somewhere or another but, coming from a priest, it was weird.
The theology is that women are naturally fertile and infertile for periods of time, so abstaining during the fertile times to avoid pregnancy does not violate the natural law, whereas barriers and pills go outside the natural law to avoid conception. Also, most forms of the pill also contain an abortifacient which can cause an abortion if the primary preventative measure fails.
of course you do. you are mocking the rapture dudes in this thread. it is a lie when people say they do not mock the faiths of others. our whole damn society has been mocking the living crap out of the beliefs of the rapture folks. thw whole point of my participation in this thread is that the rest of you are just like them, both the wackos and the folks that mock them. it is an absurd pretense that we maintain that mocking faith is wrong. we do it. we are just cowards so we dont mock the superstitions that happen to currently carry weight in our society. if you think Catholicism is any less wacky than familyradio or whoever, you are wrong. it is only because most of us are brainwashed cowards that we dont see this. no offense. dont claim you dont mock what people believe. you do.
if you are opposed to the teachings of the god through catholic church, and disobey their stance on birth control, then that is fine too. "vengeance is mine" sayeth the lord
None of these are sure things. I knew a good Catholic family that had enough kids, last liter were twins. They were using one of the methods above and had another girl. So he clipped, and she got snipped, and a year later they had a bady. The only foolproof method is the coyote method. Sit by the hole and howl, and whine.
Although martin can obviously be annoying at times, I enjoy reading his views whether I agree or not. Sometimes there are aspects of his posts that take me awhile to think about my own views and I enjoy the personal reflection. Although I'm not 100% sure about the impact of prayer, I tend to believe that it has tangible results, especially collective praying. I don't necessarily think that specific religions are favored with prayer requests. I haven't the slightest clue whether prayers that are answered are granted by God/Jesus (i.e if you are Christian). I just tend to believe that answered prayers (especially those with long odds) are not random events of the universe. martin: Your thoughts regarding Christianity are well documented. Do you believe that prayer can influence future events?
Are you not familiar with the concept, or do you just want me to tell you for argument’s sake? I only ask, because if it is the latter We could just skip me defining it, and get to the part where we fight about it.
