the simplest understanding of the world is all that is required to know that you cannot manipulate events with your thoughts. you do not have the power to telepathically connect with an invisible wizard. even if lots of people together try to zap the thoughts at the wizard. thats not how brains work.
Prayer has an implied attachment to religion/God while positive thinking generally does not. I tend to believe that successful individuals that practice the art of positive thinking (visualize success or whatever) receive "lucky breaks" in life that are in line with their positive thinking/prayers. Maybe the lucky breaks are just random but I think there might be more to it.
But you most certainly can manipulate your own subconscious with your thoughts. And through your subconscious, you can manipulate your worldview. Through worldview manipulation, you can see what you want to see and events happen favorably. It's almost a Zen thing. They can't make things happen for martin, but they can make them happen for themselves. Don't worry. Be happy.
