Just remember this my friends: Many of these people some of you seem to so enjoy making fun of are currently defending your freedom to so and many have given their lives for your freedoms.

True, but many, many, many more enlisted or went thru ROTC somewhere other than College Station and do not hold up the homoerotic, cultish, mysogynistic phenomenon that is "Aggie pride" up as some sort of invioable standard.

I can thank them for their service and sacrifice and still find many of their traditions downright strange.

exactly and knowing many upon many A&M grads, I can honestly say a very small amount of the Aggie Nation will actually grab a weapon and stand a post. Most of them hire each other for their accounting firms.
I am sure many other schools and places have as many brave men and women as A&M... For those of them who are at A&M, I say thank you and god bless as I do the men and women of LSU ROTC....

Tejas hit it right on. Sure many of them will go into the real military. But the majority of them just like playing dress up and being an embarrassment to what is otherwise a fine university.

Texas A&M is what happens when you combine a cult and summer camp. They manage to throw in college courses somewhere. Not everything's a tradition just b/c you say so, guys. And it wouldn't kill you to get some female cheerleaders. As far as being treated badly, they do their share of yelling "Beat the hell out of LSU". I feel sorry for them, it's a hotbed for social ineptness and emotional immaturity. :geaux:

Have you guys spent any length of time with Aggies? Have you walked on the Texas A&M campus? I did for two years. I taught many A&M cadets during my time there. My experience was that they were all very fine, giving people with high moral standards and strong integrity. And, I've spent nearly 20 years in Houston, including seven with a "Big Four" accounting firm, working with many Aggies. All have been wonderful people - salt of the earth, I'd say.

You may not dig their traditions. And, you may wonder why they have hand signals, midnight yell practice, post game yell practice following defeats, stand during games, and have no cheerleaders or goldengirls, but some of you need to learn tolerance.

    Thank you.

P.S. Yelling "Beat the hell out of LSU" is treating LSU fans badly?!!!

Making fun of A&M's traditions and fake army means that we have no tolerance? That's like me saying that you need to learn tolerance because you call Texas "tu" and do not love everything about the University of Texas!

I was told that A&M and LSU is (or at least was) a rivalry. Texas and Oklahoma are also A&M's conference rivals. I don't think you should be so surprised when LSU fans, an OU fan, and a Texas fan make fun of A&M's traditions when all three schools are rivals with A&M on some level.
