Re: What is your prediction/guess/hope/expectation of the LSU QB situation next seaso I do not believe so. Crowton will use the tools at his disposal and if it means a running attack we'll see one. But I in no way expect any Crowton offense to be "vanilla". I expect it to be innovative, unpredictable . . . and the pass will not be abandoned. These new quarterbacks are surrounded by a lot of talent. They won't be expected to carry the team on their shoulders or to be some kind of Jamarcus Russell or Tebow. Like Mauck and Flynn, they will be expected to manage a damn strong offense. Once they learn how to read Division I defenses an shake out the jitters, they will do all right.

Re: What is your prediction/guess/hope/expectation of the LSU QB situation next seaso I suspect Miles will use Hatch and Lee just as he used Flynn and Perrilloux, but Lee will be the starter and Hatch will see a lot more playing time and get opportunities to pass a lot more than did Perilloux. But with Lee as a Pro-Style BQ and Hatch as a Dual-Threat QB, Miles will use them as he sees fit based on the on-field situation.

Re: What is your prediction/guess/hope/expectation of the LSU QB situation next seaso best part of the whole thread!
Re: What is your prediction/guess/hope/expectation of the LSU QB situation next seaso I've seen other LSU fans believe this as well, that Hatch is a dual-threat QB, and that Crowton is going to take advantage of the dual-threat that Hatch brings by getting him in the game, like we did with RP last year, and Urban Meyer did with Tebow during Tebow's freshman year. I didn't get to the see the Middle Tennesse State game, which LSU won 44-0. Matt Flynn didn't play that game, and RP was our QB. Hatch got to play and was 1-of-2 for 9 yards, and also had 4 carries for 27 yards. Just looking at the stat sheet, this is all I can figure out: With 6 minutes left before halftime, and LSU up 17-0, LSU's offense started at the LSU 44. I don't know what QB was in there, I just know that our first two plays were hand-offs to KW, who got the 1st down on two rushes. Then, on 1 and 10, Hatch ran for 8 yards. Was he in there trying to pass, or was he in on a designed run play? After that play, RP went back in. With 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, and LSU up 37-0, LSU's offense started at the LSU 31. After a holding call on LSU, LSU got pushed back to the LSU 21. Then Hatch carried for 8 yards. Again, was he in there trying to pass, or was he in there on a designed run play? After that play, LSU got called for a false start by Stewart (no idea who the QB was), and the play after that, RP was back in. In the fourth Quarter, with LSU up 44-0, it appears Hatch finally got to play a whole series. LSU's offense started at the LSU 12. Murphy ran for 4 on first down. On second down, Hatch carried for 11 yards. Was he trying to pass, or was that a designed run play? After a 5 yard false start penalty on Jackson, Hatch completed a 9 yard pass to Dixon. On 2nd down, Hatch threw an incomplete pass. On third down, Hatch carried for 1 yard. Then Fisher went in there to punt. That was the extent of Hatch's involvement in that game. I wasn't there, but did it look like to people that where there that we were putting Hatch in to take advantage of his "dual-threat" ability? I doubt it. I think Hatch is a straight-up drop-back passer that offers no major dual-threat to an SEC defense. My guess is he just went in their to get some passing experience, and when he couldn't find a safe pass to throw, decided to run rather than throw a possible INT. And running against Middle Tenn State after we have them whipped, is nothing like running against the defenses of Auburn, Florida, Georgia, etc. -- the type of games we would specifically put RP to run the option last year. I doubt we'd ever do that with Hatch in a big game -- put him in as a "dual threat" to a major SEC defense, like we did with RP last year, and Florida did with Tebow his freshman year.
Re: What is your prediction/guess/hope/expectation of the LSU QB situation next seaso I didn't know (and still don't) where people were getting the idea that Hatch was more of a runner than Lee, but from the stats you've shown...that would appear to be false. I've seen Lee's vids, and he seems to be fairly mobile...Mauck or Flynn-esque. Neither of them are really dual threats from anything I've seen. However, the fact that he only went to Harvard after Crowton left BYU...and then transferred to LSU when Crowton arrived here...leads me to believe that he is certainly someone that Crowton has an interest in for some reason. Here's the sad thing about the stats you showed... TIM TEBOW Rushing Soph -- 141 carries, 809 yards, 5.7 average, 18 TDs Junior -- 209 carries, 1,227 yards, 5.9 average, 24 TDs Senior -- 183 carries, 1,150 yards, 6.3 average, 20 TDs Passing Soph -- 151-of-233 (64.8%), 2,194 yards, 18 TDs, 8 INTs Junior -- 247-of-402 (61.4%), 4,304 yards, 46 TDs, 6 INTs Senior -- 214-of-338 (63.3%), 3,324 yards, 31 TDs, 4 INTs RYAN PERRILLOUX Rushing Soph -- 98 carries, 735 yards, 7.5 average, 11 TDs Junior -- 136 carries, 1,274 yards, 9.3 average, 21 TDs Senior -- 226 carries, 1,460 yards, 6.5 average, 37 TDs NOTE: RP also returned punts of 50 and 65 yards for TDs Passing Soph -- 113-of-209 (54.0%), 1,976 yards, 21 TDs, 7 INTs Junior -- 119-of-209 (56.9%), 2,404 yards, 26 TDs, 6 INTs Senior -- 225-of-342 (65.8%), 3,546 yards Perrilloux was the real deal...but not a smart man.
Re: What is your prediction/guess/hope/expectation of the LSU QB situation next seaso I don't recall anyone saying Lee or Hatch were duel threat QBs. I said they were QBs who could run when needed to for example if they have to escape pressure or put the defense on their heels with a QB draw and such. So basically drop back passers with mobility.
