This year may be different but in the past

Drive to BR with 98.1 on the radio
Go to PMAC and watch the early games and listen to the band
Go out front and Hear the band and watch the run
    It's now time for football

I may sub #2 with bouncing around and visiting different tailgate's But 3 and 4 are here to stay.

The previous four seasons if the Big XII Game O' Da Week was worth watching, I'd flip between that and JP's Vandy/UK SEC Game. If Okie State was playing, I say "That Les Miles is winning THERE. Can you imagine the dmage he'd he would do with real talent? Please do not let Alabama hire him!"

Then drive up to Tiger Stadium around 1 with a comdey radio show on... well, at least when tulane had a day game. Park about 2 miles from the stadium at a friends house, tell them that Miles was a genius and then walk to the game.

If there were puddle along the way, we'd all try to be Urban Meyer and walk on the water. After failing, we'd all become sports writers and say that is only a metaphor because it's going to take Urban more than 1,2,3, 4, 5... years to achieve the greatness we all know he will do because we're sports writers and we know everything.

At the stadium we dicuss petit four's with Gordie Rush and listen to Joe Dean, who's usually in fine driving form, complain that Hallman or DiNardo could do what Saban was doing if only given enough time.

Good thinking! The new girl isn't accustomed to me and football season yet, so I have a few weeks to get her up to speed with the whole "it's for good luck" thing.

    Lets see, on gameday I...

Roll out of bed at East Laville at 8:00 AM, when I wake up my uninterested roommate (next semester will be different) with a yell of "It's GAAAMEDAAAAAY!". Then I deftly smear my purple and gold facepaint on, and walk downstairs to console the desk assistant who has to sit behind the desk during the game. Then I walk out to meet some friends, maybe pour some Jack in my coke can, empty that, pour some beer in my coke can (gotta make it inconspicuous at this age), repeat a few times. Then I wander around campus all day, stopping in the Union for some Chik-Fil-A or something. Maybe go meet my dad's friend from LSU law school over by CEBA who has a portable daquiri maker (basically a weedwacker motor with a blender on top), check out scores on peoples portable TV's, and find some tiger bait to jib on. Then around two hours before the student gate opens I sit and wait with the Third Rowers (they're usually the only ones who camp out before me) for the gate to open. Once it does I have to run and claim a seat, then get all those calls from your friends to reserve them seats because they're still drinking and you've been declared unofficial seat bitch. Then the rest is history...

Sorry if that was long winded, but you can probably tell I can't wait for the season to start!

Well, my pre-game routine varies. I live close to campus so sometimes (especially rain games) we just barbeque at the house, sit in the A/C, watch afternoon football on TV and go over to the stadium fairly late.

But most games we join friends who tailgate near Lockett Hall all afternoon.

    But my pre-game rituals are:

    1. Fly the LSU National Champions 2003 flag from my porch.
    2. Select the wardrobe of the day from my various LSU-themed clothing. I now have LSU socks and boxers, too.
    3. Get the box out of the closet with the stadium seats, 7x50 binoculars, whiskey flask, and radio headphones.
    4. Get my LSU class ring from the cigar box in my desk. I rarely wear jewelry, but I wear the LSU ring on game day.
    5. Choose which fitted LSU cap to wear (purple, gold or white), or the safari hat with the LSU hatband for day games or rain.
    6. Make sure I haven't forgotten the tickets.

My ritual underwent a change when I moved to Atlanta, but presently it goes like this.

Friday afternoon I cut out of work early. If I'm traveling a arrange my flight to go through New Orleans. I drive/fly down to Baton Rouge. I meet friends and family at Raoul's for some mega burgers. We then head to the Chimes and drink till close. I like to do an around the world every year during football season. I drink the five beer limit the Friday night and Saturday of 6 home game weekends, giving myself a bye week to drink soley hard liqour.

After the Chimes we go set up our tailgate in Free Speech Alley. We have been taligating in various areas around their for five years. Our most recent location is that circle with the decorative square in the middle. We set up our tent, table and chairs at this time. I sleep in sleeping bag there.

I wake up before the sun come up. Usually at 5:30 am. I listen to the Alma Mater then Pre-game. I drink either a Dixie or an Abitta beer first to show my undyeing love to the great state that is Louisiana. I then lite the pit. By 6:30 or so my friends start showing up with ice chests and food. I used to do all the shopping, but they do it now so I can go straight to the eating and drinking after my 534 mile drive. I cook us some breakfast on my trusty Colman stove. Its usually a litle boudin, bacon, eggs. We eat breakfast and drink. We play a game of pedro or bouray (sp?). Then I start cooking lunch. I cut some onions, belle peppers, and celry down because whatever we eat will have those things in them. I then cook and yell tigah bait at every opposing fan from the moment they come into my line of sight to the moment they are out of it. My voice is usually gone by 11. We eat and drink and cuss. I have got into the habbit of going to confession at Christ the King on game day. We go to the game about two hours before kick off and file in. I watch the drills and wait for the band to march on the field. I find a little more energy to yell for the game. It comes from the grace of God.

After the game its back to the Chimes. I try to go to bed early, wake up early and go to mass and drive back to Atlanta. Sorry its so long.

Oh yeah, forgot that, I have a lucky game shirt. Wore it to every home game and the Sugar Bowl except for ONE game...the 2003 Florida game. No more white out days!
