If he's hired ... and we hope not ... I expect the usual mediocre results from this guy ... He's never had a Saban-type (at MSU) year. Definitely a step in the wrong direction ... 4 losses for sure next year ... and this guy can't win a bowl game THAT PRESEASON LSU RANKING OF #2 behind USC ... forget it GONE WITH THE WIND TO MIAMI ... LSU will be lucky to be ranked in the Top 10 next August. Funny thing ... That "RETURN TO GLORY" ... NOW ALL GLORY IS FLEETING
...... and that has everything to do with the results on the field yesterday and nothing to do with the new coaching staff.
Some may think that i'm being unrealistic, but anything short of an undefeated season next year will disappoint me. With the talent this team has and the favorable schedule, there is no reason they should lose a game. Matt Flynn will set the world of fire this spring, take a couple games to get ready, then lead the tigers to the Rose Bowl. He wont be feared, but he will be respected, which will open up the running game even more. 4 of the 5 O-linemen will return, plus all of the swing men. No one will be able to run up the middle against our D. Prude and Jackson will defend the outside, and our safeties get better everyday. Put them in a more realistic defense (not one that blitzes every other play and gets burned by max protection) and the Tigers will be on top.
We weren't ranked in the top 10 preseason last year. We were this year. Pre-season doesn't mean anything. We won't be preseason top 10 next year most likely but let's have faith in Miles and he can bring us there. Ramah needs to quit b*#^ching Locoguano, you are going to be dissapointed. You can have high expectations without being dissapointed in anything other than undefeated. Returning talent & favorable schedule won't mean much unless the players buy into Miles' system & he proves he can do what we all hope he can.
You all can't be true tiger fans if you think anything less than 11-0 is acceptable next year. With the talent coming back and the favorable schedule, you guys really aim low if you think 2 or 3 or 4 losses is acceptable. Reading some of your comments reminds me of when LSU was playing in the early 90s...people would be happy back then with that kind of record. This is now, and LSU is loaded, and to think that 3 or 4 losses would be a good year just because of a coaching change is lame.
I have to agree that anything less that a New Years day game would be disappointing but not suprising. I think Miles is going to change both the defense and offense and it could take a season to adjust even with the great wealth of talent.
9-2 would satisfy me. Unless he wins a National Title though, he will have his hoard of haters as they have already seemed to grow into half if not more of this site.
I'm hoping for a 9-2 SEC Championship year. What could easily happen is a 7-4 record and a trip to the Cotton Bowl.
A 7-4 record would disappoint me no matter who the coach is. With the talent and starters we have returning I'm optimistic along the lines of 10-1, 9-2. If JR progresses under Miles tutelage I'm even more optimistic.
