What will we see from our Defense?

I want our DB's to show up and have a lock down game. I know Jackson has been hurt, But JZ needs to pick up some slack. He looked terrible against UK, and Auburn. We started out with a great pass defense, with a lot of hard hits, and INT's. We need the secondary to turn it up, and help our D-line dominate.

This isn't the 05 Alabama offense, so i think your expectations are just a bit too high.

No expectations are too high for this defense.

Wasn't scared of your offense in 05 and not scared of your offense in 07

    TheDude I'm calmer than you.

The flip side of that coin is, this is not the '05 LSU defense, so we will see how it plays out.

This is the best D that Alabama will face all season...and this isn't the worst offense LSU will face this season. LSU only shut out State and Middle Tenn. i'm willing to bet that Alabama's offense is much better than State's and middle tenn's

No one was afraid of your offense in 05 post Prothro and rightfully so. I wasn't making that claim. I was claiming that you've only shut out a struggling Mississippi State and Middle Tenn offense.

The defense is much better when they play an agressive style like they were in the first part of the season. The last few games we have seen few blitzes and what seems like a soft zone. Maybe with the extra week we will see some new wrinkles.

    Some numbers to chew on....

LSU's defense has only played two decent offenses: Florida and Kentucky

    Consider who LSU has played:

MSU has the 67th best rushing attack
MSU has the 114th best passing attack

VT has the 97th best rushing attack
VT has the 102nd best passing attack

MTSU has the 75th best rushing attack
MTSU has the 87th best passing attack

SC has the 95th best rushing attack
SC has the 52nd best passing attack

Tulane has the 18th best rushing attack
Tulane has the 108th best passing attack

UF has the 29th best rushing attack
UF has the 42nd best passing attack

UK has the 35th best rushing attack
UK has the 24th best passing attack

AU has the 52nd best rushing attack
AU has the 105th best passing attack

    ------

Perhaps not the best, but the most balanced offense you are going to see this year.

    45th and 46th respectively.

All those rankings are a lot higher since they already had to go against the LSU defense. Your numbers will match our opponents soon enough.
