DJ Hall - that's the one.

Those other guys may be good, but so are Tolliver and Byrd and Mitchell and LaFell (sometimes). I wouldn't try to say they're household names, though....dare I say you made a homerish mistake there? I think so.

I wouldn't say it was a mistake, i knew you were thinking of DJ Hall but i thought i'd give my honest option. They may not be household names, but they are solid. I bet there are a ton of good WR's out there. The media gets to decide who's a household name, wouldn't you agree.

I'd say some here (not you persay) are making the same homerish mistake that LSU's D is going to completely shut down Alabama's offense.

LSU needs to get back to being aggressive and forcing the opponent to make mistakes.

So I hope to see blitzing linebackers, safeties, conrners, and nickel/dime backs.

I hope to see the D-line playing with a mean streak and the linebackers all over the field making plays.

I hope the DBs get some easy picks and give the offense some good field position.

Everyone keeps calling for blitzes. I'm not so sure. I'd settle for penetration from the front four and LB containment. We've gotten some of that on occassion, but we need more of it.

Steltz makes a ton of open field tackles and he almost never misses. And, besides his interceptions, he's caused a fair number of dropped balls as well. I'd hate to see him barely miss a sack on a blitz only to be out of position and unable to smack Hall as he tries to catch the ball.

I wonder....is our DL (besides Pittman) so big that they just can't penetrate enough to routinely rush the passer?

Either way - John Jimmy Joe Parky Sue Wilson is not Tebow or Woodson. And he likes to pull a Perrilloux and chuck it into coverage when he's pressed. So let's hope Steltz and crew can get another pick or two.

:miles: 4 is the number, and the number shall be four. As in fourth down, 4th Quarter, and four straight wins over Bama. Let's make it 5!

    LSU's O 18th ranked against Bama's 33rd ranked D
    Bama's O 40th ranked against LSU's 4th ranked D

Who have y'all played? Who have we played?

I don't know why any Bama fans would want to bring up numbers when clearly every one of them is in LSU's favor. The ONLY thing Bama can rely on is their coach and be up to play us. LSU is Dominant in just about every stat, so I hope they bring their A+ game because they are gonna need it.

If all those other no name receivers were that good why are they waiting til the 9th game in the season to perform? As far as I am concerned the offensive as a whole is lacking. They will not be able to just line up and throw it every down on us. They are gonna a have to run the ball and make long sustained drives.

They have "got" to blitz more....every time they get a lot of heat on the opposing QB we usually win. This is CFB not the NFL, with some creative blitzs and good solid line play, we're there! What I hope is, that this week has given the Tigers a chance to rest and heal a bit after a brutal run. I hope theres been time for the coaches to make a few adjustments as well, tweak some things. I like our Tigers in this game, they just need to "bring it"!!! BTW, with a game like this you can pretty much throw all the "stats" out the window, seems like everybody becomes top 10 caliber when we get them..."why" I have "no" idea, probably a lot of reasons...that being said, if the Tigers are ahead or trailing by just a few going into the forth, "We win", and I just dont see Bama piling a bunch of points up on us.

And. BTW, on a personal note, I had to look twice to make sure I wasn't mistakenly in the "Bama" forums. What, with all those "elephant" avatars! (Just poking a little fun there "Bama" guys.) Hey, I don't dislike the Tide, heck, I got a dog named "Bama".

I think its because Tebow and Woodson are NFL quarterbacks (and Cox had his best game of the season against us). Top QB's are completely capable of burning a defense caught in the blitz. Both were taking short drops and throwing quickly and accurately. Pellini must be conservative to avoid giving up the a scoring TD, there are no points for sacking a QB. Not every quarterback is as capable as Woodson/Tebow and Wilson will have to prove that he is or he will see more blitzing from Pellini, I imagine.

One thing we need to see is preventing 3rd down conversions and not let penalties keep drives alive.

For the first time in six seasons, LSU's defense has allowed three consecutive opponents to score at least 24 points and many of the drives prolonged with penalties.

 But balanced offenses are about yardage, not national rankings. Bama is actually # 7 in the SEC for balanced offense. We've already beaten three SEC teams with a more balanced offense than Bama. VT (-54) and MTSU (-55) also were more balanced than Bama. That's five.

    team pass rush total balance

    1. State 147 149 297 -2
    2. Vandy 161 165 326 -4
    3. Auburn 175 165 340 -10
    4. LSU 211 224 435 -13
    5. Georgia 237 121 358 -38
    6. Florida 246 186 433 -60
    7. Bama 243 170 413 -73
    8. Kentucky 273 176 450 -97
    9. Ole Miss 223 108 331 -115
    10. Carolina 237 121 358 -116
    11. Tennessee 262 141 404 -121
    12. Arkansas 163 287 450 -124

LSU has defeated every team this season whose offense is more balanced than Alabama. I don't think balance is going to be an issue for the LSU D.
