The recent performances of our D is because of two reasons which have been mentioned. One, the O has been inconsistent and sputtering for the most part of the last 4 games. LSU has been far too conservative and predictable during these games. Opposing Ds are shutting us down more often. Which leads to more series for our D. They are tiring out, plus with more oppertunity, more points will come. Look at how our D has played in the 4th quarters against Florida and Auburn. Two games where the O was finally opened up some in the 4th, especially against Auburn. We also need the right personel in the game more often, like against Auburn. Byrd and Toliver should be the other receivers along with Doucet until LaFell and J Mitchell prove they belong on the field. Williams needs more touches period, I dont care what anyone says he is a difference maker. His all around game is more than good enough as far as blocking is concerned.

Secondly, the lack of proper adjustments. I too dont like the corners giving away slants. I prefer LSU to be in bump and run coverage. When in that coverage our corners will usually do well. Many receptions are in spread formations with WRs matched with a LB. Which shows a lack of adjustments. C Jones should get more PT IMO. I also agree we need to go back to the aggressive D we played against Va Tech and others. Where we blitz, stunt, and use multiple formations. The DL needs to step up their game BIG time. Only Dorsey has consistenetly gotten penetration. The DL needs a better push and more pentration. T Jackson, Pittman, Alem, and Johnson all need to improve their play.
