Of course it's a dick move. It is not intended to reward lazy, it is intended to motivate. Tell your cousins to push a broom or swing a sickle and I will be more generous.
No it isn't. It is intended to humiliate and denigrate. My cousins are not a problem. And you will never be generous.
But the person that let them go ahead of them probably still wouldn't have won. Certainly, they wouldn't have won if either person picked their own numbers. If they both let the system generate the numbers for them they still may not have won. If it works like a casino slot machine the numbers are constantly changing so that if you hit "play" a fraction of a second later you get a different outcome. The cashier in this example would not have generated the number at the same precise time if dealing with a different person and would have produced a different number.
I've had this discussion with my wife and have settled on the fact that you should at least bring it to the cart area. It takes no time and they still have the work of bringing them in.
You should absolutely do this. Anything else is pure laziness. And...in North Texas, where 30+ mph winds are almost a daily occurance, it's a necessity--or it will blow into someone's car.
Then I hope a little degradation will help them see a better light. I have admitted giving for acts which serve a purpose. Scribbling BS on a piece of cardboard from the Tip Top has no purpose. If all they did was scribble the truth on an etch-o-sketch like "need beer" or "gotta pay for my stolen shopping cart" I would certainly be more of a giver. I have made hundreds of border crossings from Mexico to the US. At least those seeking coin focus on a purpose. Washing windows, selling picked cactus, juggling balls, yunno...something. Rarely does someone just sit there with a cup. You have told others to go fuck themselves over lesser assumptions of you. Don't go and be pretty princess over this. My overall generosity far outweighs the reality check I provide to the lazy and shiftless.
The winning number in that case was a quick pick so if the woman had bought her quick pick at that exact same second instead of waiting for the woman she let go ahead of her she could have won
I might agree with you concerning healthy young men. But I gave five bucks yesterday to a 70-something with one leg sitting in the sun in a POS wheelchair with a sign that said "Please Help". He didn't seem lazy and shiftless to me. He seemed hopeless and desperate. You would have given him a fucking penny because he didn't play a banjo and sing "De Camptown Ladies" for your amusement? Here you are judged by what you say, Rockefeller. Stacey condemns me for laziness because I leave carts for the cart boys to do their jobs. So be it. She is entitled to her opinion based on what I say here. Ignoring a poor bastard is one thing, we have all done it. But giving him a penny isn't about "motivating" him, it's about you. And we definitely get it. Don't take it personally. I still think you are smart and witty. And callous.
These 2 go hand in hand. If some jackhole is clogging the left lane and creating that rolling roadblock you speak of, then I will ride their ass until they get the fuck out of the way. And if they tap their breaks, it only encourages me to try to get closer. And, if they piss me off bad enough, I'll continue riding their bumper, even if I can get in the right lane and pass them. They're the one at fault, so they should be the one moving out of the way.
