So, we have 4 finalists for awards, and perhaps Coach O as a coach of the year candidate. Currently, the EOY award candidates are:

Grant Delpit for Nagurski Award for best overall defensive player.
Greedy Williams for Jim Thorpe for best overall DB
Devin White for Butkus for best overall LB
and, Cole Tracy for Lou Groza for best overall STs.
Each of these guys are 1 of 3 finalists for each award.

    What's the record for LSU?
Pretty awesome that we have 4 finalists!

That's probably a question for Michael Bonnette, LSU SID.

red said we're a team and not about ind awards. I bet @uscvball remembers that. It was in terms of a Heisman discussion.

Mr. Dorsey by himself won 5 in 2007 (Outland, Nagurski, Bednarik, Lott, SEC Def POY)

2011 we had a few too
    Mathieu - Bednarik
    Mo - Thorpe
Miles - AP Coach of Year
    Chavis - Broyles

Wing should have won Ray Guy that year.

Yes, I remember. Like I said then, it sounds noble and all but when your player takes that sucker home, it's a nice thing to have and talk about.

You think seeing those Heisman's in Heritage Hall don't have an impact on recruits? Child, please. They don't give a shit about all the team stuff, really. A Natty ring, totally. But it's all me-first.

Devin White is probably not going to win his award, guys in the SEC have better stats that are also nominated. He will have to be happy with the top 5 draft pick I think. He is clearly the best, so it would have to be from the eye test that he gets it. But I hope I am wrong.

disclaimer: I just got done with 4 days of duck and goose hunting with very little sleep. So I might have misread or miss-remembered the article I read about it a few days ago. But I think I got it right.

Yup, said in another thread I was glad I was wrong. IThe A&M game was also huge for him. He clearly jumps off the screen as the best linebacker, but at the time his stats were low
