I think my point and loco's point was that no one has been saying anything relating to this. Not that any of us have blocked it from our memory.
Maybe not directly, but there have been at least 10 threads a week complaining about Lee. He's obviously not ready for big time football, but he's all we've got because of RP. I think that's the point the OP is trying to make.
I'm still here, and still glad he's gone. I would rather get embarrassed with a guy throwing pick sixes. I got really tired of people comparing us to Miami because of RP. He needed to go, and he went. We'll be a better team long term because of it.
Yup, I am of the same sentiment:thumb: The team can't afford to have someone who's such a distraction. Lee is all LSU has at this point (JJ even much greener!), and we should still support him. The interceptions/returns are painful and frustrating (both for fans and Lee himself); but that's all part of the growing pains.
I am glad that Perrilloux is gone, but this whole, "Lee's doing better than so and so..." nonsense is getting old. I've NEVER seen a guy get more credit for what good WRs do with the plethora of screen passes he throws. He's thrown maybe 3 or 4 TD passes that have gone for more than 5 or 6 yards through the air, but EVERYTHING else has been short screens to the WRs that have been taken in for either a short TD or a long gainer. (Gee, I wonder why his completion percentage is high :dis If you take those away, he is just as "good" or worse than Stafford (or whomever else) was. How many pick 6's did Stafford throw as a freshman? Lee's pick 6's technically cancel out his TDs, right? The guys on the radio said the screens were nonexistent against Tulane, and look how well he did... Lee over the last 3 games: SC - 189 yds 61% 0 TD 1 INT UGA - 287 yds 50% 3 TDs 3 INTs (2 Pick 6's, and the last 2 TDs came when UGA gave up after warming up the bus) Tulane - 99 yds 40% 1 TD 1 INT (pick 6) The guy may be the best we have, but he is not improving - he's digressing. I don't know if it's the mental aspect, or the guys working with him aren't coaching him up enough. Jefferson should have gotten WAY more reps against Tulane. He's taking a lot of heat, but that's what happens when you're a QB. No one is expecting him to be perfect, but the repetitive, stupid mistakes are unceasing.
I'm still here and I have NEVER waiverd from my stance that RP burned his bridge on his own and had been given MORE than enough chances to turn his attitude around. I knew it wouldn't be a "pretty year" by our standards and the odds that Miles saw his first season with more than 2 loses were high. Still, dispite the potential >2-loss season, I feel that we are in better shape to rebound from any "down year" (by our standards and expectations) because of the strong class coming in ('09) and knowing that our other question marks (new starters in the defensive secondary) would have gained experience this season. Look, in '04, following our first National title this decade, we lost 5 games--including the bowl game vs Iowa and were 9-5 on the year. Now, this season, following our 2nd National title, we're sitting at 6-2, and EVEN if the worst-case scenerio happens (where we lose to 'Bama this week and even against Ole Miss--who's pretty solid I might add), we're still in line to finish better than that '04 team and at worse, equal it. We won another National title 4 or 5 years after losing 5 games in a season and I believe we're in much better shape talent-wise now, than what we were in '04. So why panic?
