he said we would be shocked (paraphrasing) to see the candidates who were interested and had already contacted LSU citing an interest. Basically meaning, high profile names.

Shanahan's pretty tight with the owner Pat Bowlen. The Bronco's have fallen off since Elway retired (and which team wouldn't), but not to the point where I think Mike's in any danger of being fired. If they beat Indy this weekend and make the playoffs then I think the likelihood drops to zero.

and I suppose Indi has nothing to play for either, do they? not good.

broncos are .500 since elway retired. hell, the saints may be since then as well.

I went and looked back at Picayune articles and Advocate articles and he said the list was huge and we would be surprised at some of the contacts he has had from agents and others interested in the job. He also said we expect to pick from the best.

I get what you're saying but to say that anyone would be surprised that Petrino and Les Miles would be interested.....might as well say Mumme's interested. Well, of course they're interested. They'll double or triple their salaries for one thing.

That's all I said. Waiting to hear surprise names. If Petrino and Miles are it....that would really be a surprise IMO.

All in all though....guess I'd rather have the choice between a guy (Miles) who beat Stoops 2 years straight and a guy (Petrino) who is got a team in the top 10 scoring 50 points a night....than a choice between Pat Sullivan from TCU and Dinardo at Vandy who one week earlier had gotten hammered 65-0 by Tennessee.

I still can't believe DiNardo got the LSU job.....and Hallman.....and Archer.

Indy's playoff position is set win or lose. The Bronco's are eleven games above .500 in the regular season since #7's retirement.

Les Miles has been HC at Ok St. since 2001 and his record is 28-20.

I'd have to say the big names are:

Jack Del Rio Head Coach Jacksonville Jaguars

Mike Nolan Defensive Coordinator Baltimore Ravens

Bobby Petrino Head Coach of a top 10 team with the #1 offense in the country former Offensive Coordinator Jacksonville Jaguars

Steve Spurrier Head Coach South Carolina

Maybe originally he had Butch Davis and Tommy Tuberville on the list too.

I'd say those are some pretty big names for a college team to be looking at. All of them have been, are, or could be (in a few years) NFL head coaches.
