And, in the class before him... Drayton Calhoun. On Monday morning (7/28) during Tucker High's preseason testing, Drayton was timed in the 40 yrd dash 3 times. Results were: 4.25 (Walt Issacs/area HS scout), 4.27 (Tucker Coaches) & 4.31 (Jon Moore/Razor Sharp trainer). The 4.25 & 4.27 were hand-timed and the 4.31 was laser. The 4.48 time that is listed on Rivals.com is the time his former coach (Bill Ballard - currently LSU commit, Kevin Minter's coach at Peachtree Ridge(GA) submitted during the start of his freshman year after he returned from an impressive camp at Syracuse). Coach Ballard wanted to downplay his accurate speed in order to let him continue to grow & develop without pressure. Drayton has NEVER attended a Rivals.com, Scout.com or Nike.com combine even though he has been invited to all three! Rushed for 1,211 yards as a high school senior (7.3 YPC) and 1,062 yards as a junior (8.8 YPC). SuperPrep All-American, ESPNU 150, rated as the #8 athlete in the nation by SuperPrep ... Ranked as the #10 athlete in the country by Rivals.com ... Ranked as the #12 athlete in the country by ESPN... etc. Drayton Calhoun #25 of the LSU Tigers runs with the ball during warm-up prior to their game against the Washington Huskies on September 5, 2009 at Husky Stadium
Shepard will see some return action for sure . . . Miles said so in the morning paper. Shepard will not play quarterback except out of the wildcat and will focus on running back and wide receiver. So, he won't be an every-down back, mostly going in as a slot receiver and wildcatting inside the 20. He'll be fresh enough to return kicks and punts and could be spectacular.
Shepard and Jones. Shepard should be the next Jackson/Harvin/Maclin type player. He just needs to actually be in the game and not riding the pine.
