If Flynn tranferred it would be nothing short of tragic. Since MR is done after this year, who the heck would back up JR, Jordan Reever? It takes one play to end a QB's season, so I think Matt knows he is essentially one play from being the starting QB, and he is only a freshman so come on.

That will be Randall's job pretty soon.

    JM aint all that

JM performance Saturday night sucked. Chalk it up to being young, playing in the rain, nerves what have you... but the bottom line is the kid was out of shape and did not know his play book.

I have watched the game 2 times now (1 live and 1 on TV). I will just list my comments for easier reading:

JM NEVER looked off the primary receiver. I have heard from current players that he can not progress down the list of receivers and this problem was exposed in the second half with at least one receiver being wide open on every play. If the primary receiver was #80, JM came up to the line looking at #80 and never looked away during his drop. He was so fixed on #9 running the banana route in the endzone that when he got held up by a defender JM could not find another receiver and threw it away. Fisher comes back with the exact same play and this time #9 gets knocked down (or slips) and JM has no idea who to go to next.

He may have to world’s best arm... But he could not hit the broad side of the barn Saturday night. If he would have led some of the receivers versus making the receiver stop and reach back for the ball he would have completed many more passes and most for huge yardage. He better start leading our receivers crossing the middle or else one of those receivers will get their head taken off slowing down and reaching back. The easiest pass in the LSU play book to complete is the bubble screen and he could not even come close to getting that right. Late in the game JM hit OSU defenders in the hands with the ball. Thank god they did not catch it or else we would have an “L”. His arm might be a cannon but he better learn how to control it.

How do you cramp so badly only playing one half of a game on a relatively cool Saturday night?

Don’t get me wrong I think this kid has a very bright future and I love the way he looks behind center, but he is not ready yet. This is not high school where you can hold off the defenders till the main receiver comes open. You have to know your receiver progression and be able to work through them. You have to know your play book after having a year and a half to study it.

I am not a big Randall fan, but I do not think Fisher or the OL do right by their QB in the first half. The OL sucked in the first half. Randall did not have any time to get comfortable and the play calling was atrocious. The OL was 2 yards in the backfield as soon as the ball was snapped. The OL and Vincent were Pussy footing around and no one was exploding off the ball and hitting someone.

A half does not make a season, Good or Bad.

The word I hear is that JM is got mega talent but Flynn knows the playbook and can make plays. That is all I am looking for... well that + Wins.
    There is my $.02

Oh yeah and since I have not posted since watching the game… #95 is awesome. The stupidest phrase in football is “his motor is always running”, but in Kyle’s case I believe that best describes his play Saturday night.

What did you expect from a freshman playing his first game in such adverse conditions, Joe Montana. I've seen a few freshmen playing in their first game. Do you remember Eli Manning or Rohan Davey in their first big game? Rohan starting the Auburn game, looked about like Randall vs OSU or worse.

Fine, I will give you the fact that he is a 19 year redshirt Freshman that might have been to pumped up to make good throws, or to protect the football (rather than carrying it like a loaf of bread). His adrenaline could have even been flowing so much that it caused him to cramp, but being unprepared to direct the offense is inexcusable.

How do you not know who your 2nd or 3rd receiver is? I was one of those that left the stadium Saturday night singing JM’s praises. But after watching the game on TV it is clear he had no idea what he was doing out there. How can you be in the program for 1 ½ years and not know where to dump the ball when you primary receiver falls down? Maybe after the ASU game my opinion might change but as of Saturday night he was unprepared to direct this offense.

I think you are way too critical. I don't care how long you are in the system, you WILL NOT learn to read defenses and find your 2nd and 3rd WRs until you actually get some experience.

Randall has been in the system for 5 years, but hasn't mastered this. Mauck improved in this area dramatically last year, but still had a tendency to lock on a receiver. Davey did the same thing until he got some playing time. Hell, Booty never figured this out!

I'm sure it sounds simple when the coach tells you your reads and progressions in practice, but it's another thing to execute this in a live game without the coach standing behind you!

Flynn will struggle the same way when/if he gets his chance ... there is no substitute for game experience!

Beaux-Bo, I watched the same game you did! Not sure what some of these others saw...

I didn't see any QB win the starting job by their play on Sat. night. I think all 3 QBs have great talent, but we need one of them to step up as playmaker AND leader of the offense.

Point taken. It is easier for me to watch game film and say you should have done this and you should have done that, versus being under fire. But I do think he has a long way to go before he is directing an offense.

I am concerned about his ability (or desire) to get into the playbook and understand the concepts of offensive plays. Maybe he now understands he can not trade on his HS career, and will work harder than ever to build his college career. I think Matt Flynn has earned an opportunity to show what he knows. Again, a half does not make a season. Randall gets the starting nod in my book against ASU.

Some of you guys are really reminding me of Ole Miss fans of many years past. If a certain young non caucasion were to run for five yards and then fumble, you could hear "I told you that ###### couldn't play." But when he takes the hand off, runs over three linemen, fakes out two linebackers, and then out runs the secondary, you could hear these same people say, "LOOK AT THAT PUERTO RICAN RUN!!!!" You are paying Saban some two mill a year. Is he worth it? Then let HIM coach.
