Anyone who thinks J.J. Reddick will be a good pro doesn't understand the differences between the college and pro game. Tyrus is a top 5 pick, if not #1 overall. He will be drafted on potential(which he has tons of).
Your right that is just you. Tyrus will be a top 5 pick I think he will fit best with a team that is already established. You dont want to put him in the fire his first years in the league. He will probably play the 3/4, and most big young guys dont play well right off the bat (b/c their bodies arent developed enough) young guards usually can contribute better than young big guys. Remember He is only 19 and he will be guarding poeple like Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson (those are some grown ass men) he will not be ready for that. Give him 2 or 3 years He'll be ready!!
Yes, there is no room in the NBA for pure shooters unless they are super athletic. Steve Kerr was a horrible NBA player. Seriously, if Redick goes to a team that rotates the ball well around the perimeter, he will be fine. The reason he did poorly against LSU is that Garrett Temple never left his side because nobody else on Duke could shoot at all from the perimeter. There is always room in the NBA for a shooter of his caliber.
the most Kerr averaged in a season is 8 and he averaged 6 for his career not what you'd want out of a #1 pick... he can be about as good as Damon Jones... nothing more, nothing less There is always room for a good shooter like him, but is there room for a defensive liability like him? he can't handle well enough to be a 1-guard and the 2's like Kobe and Co. will dominate his 6'4 unathletic ass...
- Won four straight NBA championships, adding his 1998-99 title with the Spurs to three straight while with the Bulls – 1995-96, 1996-97 and 1997-98 - Second player in NBA history to win two championships with two different teams in consecutive seasons (joining Frank Saul of the 1950-51 Rochester Royals and the 1951-52 Minneapolis Lakers) - Entering 2002-03, owned the highest career 3PT-FG percentage in NBA history at .459 mark (677-1,475) - Also holds the NBA mark for the highest single-season 3-PT FG percentage, hitting .524 (89-170) during the 1994-95 season - Led the NBA in 3PT-FG percentage in 1989-90 (.507) and 1994-95 (.524) - Won the 1997 Long Distance Shootout, also competed in the Long Distance Shootout in 1994, 1995 and 1996 - Ranks third on the Spurs all-time list in 3PT-FG percentage with a .409 mark (74-188) Steve Kerr played in the NBA for 15 years. To not call him a successul NBA player is shortsighted. He filled a role as a three point shooter. The biggest difference though... Kerr avergaed 11.2 for his college career. Redick averaged 19.9. I'm not saying he will be a superstar but he will be on a NBA roster for many years. And Kobe dominates anybody who guards him.
my point is that you expect more than 6-7 a game from your #1 overall pick... and please?? he didn't win those titles... MJ and Tim did... he helped, but you making it sound like if he was on the Hawks he would have led them to the title
JJ Redick will be able to score. He could drop about 15 a game. He leaned how to create his own shot this year. His problem is on defense. He will have to play the two, which essentially will match him up with people like Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Dwayne Wade.
I'd like to see Tyrus head to Atlanta to play alongside Josh Smith and Marvin Williams in the frontcourt. They still would not have a center but they are grooming Smith for that role (after seeing Boris Diaw blossom as a C in Phoneix at the same 6'8") and Tyrus would fit in nicely at the 4 within a year.
He would have to play behind Marvin Williams, Jr. Though, I think he would fit well in the Hawks system.
The best place for TT will be the Bulls. SS will teach him how to play the right way. You don't need a big man/true center in the NBA anymore, because there are only two legitimate big men left, Shaq and Ming. And Shaq is in his last few years. The bulls are going to be amazing in a few years if they get the right guy with this pick. The Curry trade that will allow them to acquire Thomas is going to look like one of the best deals in NBA history.
