side note, anyone know why the qbs still have the full stripes? Do our old jerseys allow more arm movement??
Full stripes. However, I really like and have always liked(I'm a product of the 80's) the PURPLE jerseys. I think they look BOLD!
I remember hearing that the players have a choice. Some players apparently feel that the full stripe inhibits their overall arm movement. Remember, Matt Mauck had the abbreviated stripe. Personally, I HATE the semi-stripe. I much prefer the full stripe. I also like the purple jersey having gone to LSU in the mid-80's. Some may recall that the NCAA used to allow tear away jerseys. All of the offensive skill players wore them so that their jersey would just come right off their back when they were grabbed by a defensive player. I only recall them being legal for a couple of years in the mid-to-late 70's. The tear-away jerseys that LSU had didn't have any stripes at all. There's a few pictures of Charles Alexander wearing the no-stripe jersey around on the internet. I believe they also still put a picture of Alexander wearing one in the media guide every year.
I sure don't like those tall purple socks in Carfaces picture. LSU backs and receivers wore tall white socks a lot in the 70s/80s. Linemen mostly only wore their sweat socks. Everybody knows you are faster in white socks!
