Been following this story for about a week now as I am sure most of you have as well. According to what we know thus far about the actual whistleblower complaint is that Trump, on a series of phone calls with the Ukrainian leader, pushed him to investigate Joe Biden and specifically Joe's son, Hunter. A whistleblower complaint is supposed to be turned over to congress as part of their oversight within a week, which has now lapsed. Evidently the acting DNI, under pressure from the Administration, is refusing to turn over the complaint. The Trump administration has come out swinging, insisting that the real crime here is that Joe Biden essentially laundered 3 million dollars to his own son via the Ukrainian government. Rudy Giuliani has been making an absolute fool of himself on talk shows over the past few days trying to change the discourse. However, even Rupert Murdoch's WSJ and FOX news have vetted the Biden/Ukraine story and insist that there was no wrong doing on behalf of the former VP. https://www.wsj.com/articles/bidens...rlapped-with-sons-work-in-country-11569189782 Trump has said that he will turn over the transcripts from the phone calls but so far nothing. I don't expect that he will ever turn them over. Right now, there is information coming out almost hourly so this is still very much a developing story.
Im no fan of trump. But...Because the media everyday for 3 years passed a story of how bad trump is any story even one which may be true will be discounted by the half the country. This is what media gets for choosing a side. This story will get the normal response from the Democrats and the opposite from the Republicans and will die on the vine.
Well, let's be clear. Trump has provided fodder for a daily media story for the past 3 years. It's not like the media are making these things up as they go along. Trump, for all of his "drain the swamp" rhetoric, has literally embodied the swamp. That being the case, you really can't blame the media for doing their job and reporting it. Trump's insistence that the media is out to get him is classic whiny ass behavior and he is perpetually in a triggered state simply because people in the media have the audacity to repeat what he says. 40-42% at best. If you think otherwise then you sorely underestimate the number of Republicans like @Winston1 who see Trump for what he is in spite of their political leanings. The Wall Street Journal, the National Review and FOX, two of which are owned by Rupert Murdoch, have come out strongly against Trump's accusation that Biden had a quid pro quo with the Ukrainian government. So it's not like the liberal media are simply making things up as Trump like's to assert. On this point we have some agreement. Trump is using the same playbook he has used during every other scandal of his: deflect by accusing a chief rival of doing the very thing he is being accused of, send out the minions on the Sunday talk shows to shout down reporters who are simply asking questions and try to launch investigations into the matter. Unless you haven't been paying attention, not one single of Trump's conspiracy theories have come to fruit...not one of them. If the Democrats use the same playbook they've been using I imagine that your prediction of it "dying on the vine" is likely.
Winston and I view Trump through a similar lens. But I do believe he has done some good things for us eventhough he lacks leadership in every way.
This one is it Trump has finally done it he gone, cheddar coming for the dems Venezuela here we come!
I agree with you here. I support the stance he has taken against China; it's been long overdue. I also support his push for greater mental health reform in the wake of mass shootings as I've felt all along this was more a mental health problem than a gun problem. Some of the deregulating he's done I agree with as well. So....there are indeed ways that I can support his administration. I'm an American first and foremost and want what's best for the country even when it turns out the side I support most of the time was wrong. As Americans we should all be able to cheer when we hear good job numbers or a strong economic outlook. Otherwise, we are cheering for our own demise. I've never wished Trump to fail; quite the opposite. BUT! Like you, I recognize that he displays no traits of great leaders....quite the opposite in fact. I also recognize, as Winston recently pointed out, that Trump is degrading the integrity of many of our institutions that have been historically apolitical....such as the FBI and Intel community. The country deserves better.
Once again, I literally have no idea what you are talking about or referring to. You just get more incoherent by the day. I feel for you man....I really do. I still think taking the meds would benefit you but that's between you and your doctor of course.
This is a difficult situation. Unfortunately I tend to believe the reports and the light they’re cast in by the media. It is consistent with Trump. However I’m troubled as this seems by partisan. Today Biden essentially said he did similar things when VP. it’s hard to believe there was no corruption in the transactions between HRC and Russia for the uranium or between Obama and the Iranians among others. However I hold fast to the principle of “Caesar's Wife”. We cannot survive with even the appearance of such impropriety.
Feel for me? I have lived a long interesting good life. Contrary to popular belief asprin is about all I do. If you can't figure out that I meant is that yet another of it seems hundreds of frudulent charges and attempts by the left to destroy a duly elected president is what my post meant than I feel for you. You might want to try meds yourself. But this one could be the big one keep hope alive.
I opine that when the history of this sorry period in our history is written, “The Resistance” will be judged harshly. When they screamed they would do anything to resist, that gives the critical thinker reason to pause, and consider is this something Trump has done, or is it The Resistance cranking out another attack. As bad as Trump is, and as much as I detest him, I must admit, some of this stuff is so outrageous I need to really focus and analyze to determine the amount of truth and how much fiction. Trump’s offer to maybe disclose the transcripts of the call are right out of the playbook, The so called transcripts will be doctored to make Trump look ok. Only the whistle blower’s package will suffice, just as the law prescribes.
