I give red dots on two occasions only: 1. Single-digit newbies posting a wildass rumor. This is to warn everybody to just ignore this guy until he goes away. 2. Retaliatory strikes against someone who has given me red for no good reason. martin usually. Ye reap what ye sow. Giving negative rep because you don't like someones opinion is pretty lame. It's a forum for discusssion here, better to challenge them on it openly. Rep shouldn't be a popularity contest, but a way of judging whether someone's word is generally respected by anybody.
Six people in gave me negative points in this thread. Three people gave me positive points.... As a result, I GAINED more than 125 rep points overall.

He, who shall remain nameless, was kind enough to grace me with negative rep although I had just given him more green to contribute to the 125 rep points he mentioned in the previous post.
