Who cares? What else matters besides winning? Not a damn thing. In 2005, Russell completed 60% of his passes despite having several ham-fisted receivers. Only Florida's Leak had a better percentage in the SEC. He was third in passing efficiency behind Leak and Shockley. Russell threw for 15 touchdowns versus only 9 interceptions for 2,432 yards and a 10-2 record as a sophomore starter. Leak and Russell are the two best quarterbacks in the SEC returning for 2006 according to NCAA statistics. Anybody who thinks Russell is a bad quarterback has no grasp on football reality. I like Flynn, too, and I think he has earned more playing time. But one game doesn't make a reputation.
Two different head coaches picked Russell over Flynn. There must be a reason why they did. We have two good QBs with two different styles. I don't think we can go wrong with either one, but only one can play. That's why coaches get paid the big bucks and we don't. And I didn't even mention Perrilloux ... what a nice problem to have.
yep. I don't think however the coaching staff realized what a freaking GAMER Flynn has turned out to be. I can't wait to see what RP can do though. I agree, its a GREAT problem picking between 3 awesome QB's.
It goes both ways....depending on who YOU wanted in at QB. If you're a Flynn lover, naturally you will say the team played better for him in the Peach Bowl. The reality is, we just came off an embarrassing loss at the Georgia Dome and these guys had something to prove...no matter who the QB was. Besides, we'll never know if they would have played the same with JR in there, but I beleive they would have. And Perilloux, we're gonna need him down the road...trust me.
Russell should have good numbers with the o-line, recievers, and running backs LSU had the last 2 years. How many picks did he throw against Florida, he blew the Tennesse game and could not move the ball against Appalachian St. If a team puts any pressure on him he just panics. What does Flynn have to do to win the starting job? He is faster, more accurate, and can manage the team much better.
How in the world did you get two red dots on two post?
hahaha. You mean the receivers that can't catch or run routes? The O-line that's struggled to block for him all year? Or our only non-injured RB being 4th string for half this season? Those players? Russell didn't blow the Tennessee game. It was a total team melt down the 2nd half. I believe he managed to score 20 some odd points against Appalachian St and even though they are Div II - they won the NC, so they aren't too shabby. Flynn has shown those characteristics in limited situations. We don't yet know whether he can do that consistently or not. The coaches are the ones that get to see them every day at practice & are in a much better position to decide who that would be.
i totally agree. If flynn started last year we would still of won 11 games, but they wouldnt all be ot victories or winning by field goals. Jamarcus just made stupid decisions all throughout the year and then he showed his potential when he would make amazing 4th quarter drives. Flynn makes better decisions and i believe that he would give us a more balanced steady offense all yr
