LVT... Good point. In this day and age you have got to be looking ahead.

How about Mel Tucker for DC here at LSU. Has some ties to LSU and Ohio. If he came and spent 1-2 years as a DC for LSU, won a NC he would be a shoe in as a head coach one day.

Tucker grew up in Cleveland and played college football at the University of Wisconsin. Prior to joining the staff at Ohio State, he spent one year (1999) at the University of Miami (Ohio) and one season at LSU (2000), where he coached the defensive backs at both schools.

In his four years at Ohio State, Tucker developed into an outstanding teacher and motivator and demonstrated the ability to get the most out of his players. He was regarded as one of the up-and-coming young coaches in college football.

He currently is in his 3rd year as the DB coach for the Browns. He was Co-DC for Ohio State in 04'

The general consensus is that this is a "down" year for Louisiana football recruits, thus our below-average (for us) signees thus far. Not as many four stars as in the past, and no five stars (is that right?). Someone who knows more about recruiting than I do can comment on that, but going into this recruiting season the feeling seemed to be that it would be a slightly down year (top 15 type class instead of top five IIRC).

And we all know that our next head coach is going to have the initials "S. S." Get with the program!

I think it's time we give Lou Tepper a second chance.

    Last one I promise.

Ron English, DC at Michigan. If Loyd is gone and Miles does not go, maybe English is a candidate.

    http://www.michigandaily.com/media/...?norewrite&sourcedomain=www.michigandaily.com

Just three days after signing a contract to become the Chicago Bears' secondary coach, Michigan assistant coach Ron English has reportedly decided to return to Ann Arbor to assume the duties of defensive coordinator, the Bears announced yesterday.

The Michigan athletic department confirmed English will be back at the University, but it would not specify in what capacity.

English could not be reached for comment.

For the past three years, English served as the Wolverines' defensive backs coach. He garnered acclaim for both his recruiting and coaching abilities.

In 2004, cornerback Marlin Jackson and safety Ernest Shazor both received all-America honors, making English the first coach in NCAA history with two defensive backs earning the award in the same year.

You know who I think would do GREAT with the kind of athletes we have at LSU is the DCO. of TCU. I forget his name, Beaux maybe you know.

He has some sort of 4-2-5 hybrid that always seems to be attacking. TCU always has a good D year in and year out.

Tenata is also on my list. He has been DC at GT for 6 years. In the last 3 seasons GT has ranked in the top 30 in total defense, scoring defense and rushing defense. In 2004 the Yellow Jackets finished 12th in total defense, 13 in rushing defense and 21st in both passing and scoring defense. The year before GT ranked 12th in rushing defense, 20th in total defense and 27th in scoring defense. This year GT is ranked high in multiple defensive categories. He has also served as DC at 5 other universities including NC and Ohio St.

Another guy who deserves a close look is Mike Breske, the DC at Wyoming where he has served in that capacity for the last 5 years. At Wyoming he uses the 3-4 alignment. He has a reputation for great pass defenses. Last year Wyoming was ranked 9th in total defense. This year his defense is also doing extremely well. Breske was also the DC at Montana for three seasons, during which they advanced to the I-AA NC twice and won it once. His defense at Montana was among the best in the nation in both passing and rushing.

Hadn't seen you since January......remember these?

Very short leash the next two weeks for Bama posters who aren't "Regulars", red already put a choke collar on you.

Football talk is welcomed, as long as it's substantiated with reason/facts but I wouldn't try to stir our members with smack- we're not a smack board- there are other LSU forums better suited for you, if it's what you're seeking. :thumb:
