i'm anxious to hear what Saban has to say about the upcoming season...personally, i think he is downplaying the fact that we have a much better squad this year than last (which is good)
Today he just talked about how healthy the team is and how hard the practice conditions are. Adrian Mayes has a strained quadricep that's been bothering him since the last scrimmage. He should resume practice in the middle of the week. He praised Matt Mauck for his perseverence of overcoming his injury in time for spring ball. One funny thing is that he "spared" the media of going over the "accolades of ULM". What? He was asked which freshman would likely play this year or redshirt. Here's the list he gave.... WR's Dwayne Bowe - will play Craig Davis - wait and see QB's (probably one will play) JaMarcuss Russell - possibly will play Matt Flynn - possibly will play 2 of the 3 freshmen tailbacks will play. Other offensive players... Keith Zinger - possibly will play Will Arnold - redshirt Jerry Sevin - redshirt Defense: Kirston Pittman - will play LaRon Landry - will play Jesse Daniel - will play (definitely on special teams) He didn't mention many others. The weirdist moment during the press conference was when Saban went on a rant about a little-known rule concerning scholarships... With the recent departures of Ricard, Collins and Gilbert, Saban wanted to give their scholarships to senior walk-on's who have played. Apparently, he can't do it because the players that left were here during fall practice. Saban got very loud about it and seemed very pissed about the fact that LSU will only have 81 scholly players this year when four seniors could and SHOULD be rewarded with scholarships.
