Boy, that team really took a Smoke-like dive at the end of the year, didn't it?? They were 0-2 in the SEC tourney and then got knocked out of their own regional by Charleston. I was high on him until that. Now, MSU can have him.

My first choice would be Horton (.70 percent winning average, 4 trips to Omaha, 6 conference championships, conference coach of the year 4 times, two-time national coach of the year, 2004 national champion). I think LSU could lure him away from Fullerton with our current and planned facilities and with a lucrative contract. Fullerton cannont match either the facilities or the salary.

After that it would be either Bianco or Wells in no particular order.

Personally I like Wells or Horton for the job, then Bianco.

same here, who wouldnt want sparky anderson reincarnated. Ive always wanted him in charge since skip left. skip coming back would be a disaster. you can never really go home again, i think is the saying, and it applies here.

I agree with you on Jones. How bout this, I'd talk to 3 or 4 guys and then work from there. I'd talk to Wells, Bianco, Horton and Rick Jones. I don't think we'd screw up like with Smoke on any of those guys.

    That's what I'm thinking. Talk about expectations....geeeez!

I wouldn't be upset with Wells. Hiring Wells or Bianco or Horton last time would have saved us a bunch of money this time.

Just curious, but are you basing all of your rock-solid premonitions regarding wells on anything other than gut feeling?

I think Wells would be more of the same...good regular seasons and fledgling postseasons. Bianco is the way to go, IMO.

From what I read, Horton could be easy to lure with a nice salary bump since he's only making less than $200k/yr.
