I "STILL" haven't said anything to deny LSU's greatness. Sure---there is plenty of tradition there.

Well you seemed to mock the term 'tradition' ealier. I was just making sure you knew.:D

How is Skip taking over the program for 1 or 2 years considered a viable option? Most of the kids he will be recruiting were pretty young during his hey day and the next coach will again be replacing a legend. Unless Skip plans on commiting to 4 or 5 years we are better off getting a quality coach now who can tell a recruit I'll be here longer than 1 year.

Do you really think Skip is going to coach for 4 or 5 years? If that's his plan he better come out and say it and not leave recruits wondering.

I'm not bashing you for your opinion just saying that I think it's a bad idea. As much as I liked Skip as head baseball coach I don't think he is going to make a long term commitment that this team needs. I also think having to hire another coach to once again follow Skip could be a hurdle we don't need to jump over twice especially if he isn't planning on staying long. JMO

Colonel, I think you may have touched a nerve with Chaos. Anyway our dynasty is way better than USC's because when USC was winning those titles there were only three college baseball teams, and one of those was a co-ed intramural squad.

I said it in a couple of other threads, but I'd go after a west coast guy. NO TEAM in the SEC is playing that style of ball yet (small ball with first-round-draft pitching along with guys that can go deep when needed) and I think that it could be a way for LSU to start another long run--albeit not to the extent of the 90s. But, you never know, right?

Sorry, but all teams have some sort of tradition. Sometimes, winning ain't one of them. Ask Vandy. I remember years when OM owned LSU. But over the years, LSU has begun to dominate. Johnny Vaught prefered to play LSU in BR. He felt like they could (and often did) beat them there as well as at home. He wanted the big paycheck because of the attendance in BR. DeBarfo started out like gangbusters. Then got gangbanged. When Duece and Joe Gunn were running backs several years ago, they killed LSU in BR. I have posted before that after the game, many OM fans were partying in the end zone after the game. Of course, there were the usual "go to hell, LSU" cheers. I said, "they already did." A young LSU lady, with her OM husband told me that wasn't nice. I told her, that wasn't LSU football and I said "I promise you that will come to a screeching halt." LSU just will not play that kind of ball. Too much pride there for that to happen. I felt sorry for the players on that team. Those players were not that bad. Just had problems. I feel like they got robbed with GD. Kind of like VN vets. Never got the support and never got turned loose to win.

LOL ask Salty if I am miserable. man I love givin you Rebs a hard time. Most NCAA programs would love to have SMokes records. It's all in what you have come to expect.

the reason you didnt mention OM's titles or winnings is because you'd need a microscope to find them. In ANY sport.

As far as awesome and USC goes, just think if USC is awesome and LSU is 1000 times better in recent accomplishments compared to Ole Miss... where does that put Ole Miss? I'd say right about where Whale turds are, at the bottom. Just think if MB helps OM win 5 NC's and a few regionals and a bunch more accomplishments, OM will be even with LSU. SO LSU could just STOP playing ball and it would take what? 7 years for Ole Miss to catch up in the dynasty dept.? and that would just break even. What are the odds of that happening with ANY coach? It takes more than a couple of good recruiting years and a couple of regionals won to win 5 CWS and set a standard. But there is that "tick" thing again, I forgot. :dis:

like I said, OM aint been to the dance yet, they are just trying on shoes, stumbling around, wondering if they can dance or not.

Still better than we did this year, good luck. :thumb:
