He never really got a true chance to prove it here, but I think Michael Clayton is the best player to ever wear purple and gold.

    Josh Reed for me

Billy Cannon - Compared to other players of his time

    I would throw in
    Kevin Faulk

Are you judging this based on what they did in college or their careers as a whole. IE how they did in the NFL is a factor...

The Heisman is awarded to the best player in college football. There is only one LSU Heisman trophy winner--Billy Cannon. Jerry Stoval and Charles Alexander were Heisman runners-up. Tommy Casanova, Doc Fenton, ken Kavanaugh, Abe Mikal, and Gus Tinsley are all in the College football Hall of Fame.

Now, the best LSU player in the NFL was Hall-of-famer Y.A. Tittle. Jimmy Taylor and Steve van Buren are also in the NFL Hall of Fame.

No ifs ands or buts about it... the late Eric Andolsek. When God made him, he cut the man from rock and said I'm making the toughest SOB you'll ever see.

When it's all said and done I truly believe there will be no question that Michael Clayton will be the best player ever to come out of LSU.

    C. Collins could have been right up there, but we'll never know.
