With Mardi Gras a couple of months away, who do you all like for King Cake?

I like 'em plain and not too damn much icing and sugar. Forget all that stuffed with cream cheese and berries crap.

I never liked king cakes at all until they made fillings. To me, they were generally just a dry cinnamon roll, which isn't my thing at all unless they are really moist. My 13-year-old learned to make monkey bread (which has lots of cinnamon and sugar) in a home ec class (called "skills for living" in these politically correct times) that kicks a cinnamon roll's butt. But it's moist.

Same here. My 13-year-old made monkey break muffins from a Trisha Yearwood recipe that also includes homemade syrup. SO good but I sure learned how strong almond extract is. Damn.

Lol. When my daughter brought home a list of the elective classes she could choose from, I saw a few that made no sense until I read the description. That one you mentioned was one of them except ours is called Family and Consumer Science. I read it and said, "oh, it's home ec". Then there was Occupational Skill Advancement...."oh, that's shop class". Then there was a class in Art but it had little description and turns out it is Art History and is boring as hell. Thank God we knew someone who had the class previously and warned us off of it. Why can't they just call a class what it is?
