Not mine, passing oriented teams pile up the yards and the total offense numbers get skewed, that has always been the case except for in the 70's when OU was piling up 600-800 yards running per game with the wishbone. Maybe the NU teams were similar in that respect. That is also why total defense numbers can get skewed at times. If a team stuffs the run, sometimes their total defense numbers end up being higher due to the opponenets throwing the ball on every down. Now when a team ranks high in both rushing and passing degfense then you know they are stout, suchj as LSU ranking 3rd in pass defense and 15th in rush defense. Likewise, when a team is horrible at stopping the run, they will usually rank higher in total defense than they should, because the opponents don't have to pass the ball to beat them.
In the process of trying to find a school with a balanced offense, I found two that made the top 20 in both passing and rushing: Louisville and Oregon. Louiville is #10 in rushing and #7 in passing. Paul Petrino is already on my list of prospects, but it is doubtful that he would come to LSU. Oregon is #12 in rushing and #20 in passing. Its offensive coordinator is Gary Crowton who certainly deserves some consideration. Here is the history on him. GARY CROWTON - OREGON. Age: 48 19 years coaching experience - 7 years as an offensive Coordinator including two years as OC for Chigago Bears Alma Mater: BYU Has a reputation for producing some of the most exciting and productive offenses in the country. Coaching experience 1983: assistant coach at Snow Junior College 1984-86: OC at Snow Junior College 1987: Passing game coordinator at Western Illinois 1988-90: OC New Hampshire U. 1991-93: QB coach at Boston College 1994: OC at Georgia Tech 1995: OC at Louisiana Tech 1996-98: Head coach at Louisiana Tech 1999-2000: OC for Chigago Bears 2001-04: Head coach at BYU 2005-Present: OC at Oregon
I pick Crowton out of anyone out there. He is a known offensive guru. He prefers the pass but understands balance. Plus he is a well known and respected coach. Petrino would be a good choice, but you can forget about him leaving Louisville. He wont leave his brother for another OC gig, only for a HC.

The only door open for Jimbo now is FS. I'm banking that is where he will be (unless his wife says no).
All the years Les has had in coaching I am sure he has a coach in mind to replace JF. Looking at Jimbo's stats over the last 7 years however it will take someone really good to match up to his performance. Yea, bash away but his stats don't lie,he was a good OC.:geauxtige
Now that the coaching openings seem to "dry" down to the UF OC job, would it be worth it for JF with such a lateral move? (with no quaranty of automatically stepping into Bowden's shoes). Tough decision, but maybe not if he is tired of being under the thumb of Miles with the offense playcalling.
