  1. We lived out of state and went to games when Cholly Mac was coach. But my first real experience with knowing who the coach was was Jerry Stovall.

We drove to BR once a year to watch a game from Birmingham and when I was hooked was the Florida State orange game.

I remember the Florida State Seminole (a fake) came out onto the field on his horse and all and Mike grabbed him, wrestled him down and came out with his scalp......the whole place went crazy.

Schools would never do anything like that now but that was the coolest thing in the world.
  2. Charlie Mac, LSU vs Notre Dame, Tiger Stadium Saturday night I think 1970.
Tigers won in a historic upset of Notre Dame. I was hooked for life and left my native state of Texas to attend LSU because of football. :helmet:

Is that putting football ahead of my education??? Damn right it is! :thumb:
  3. I remember going to games under Archer, but I was really young. And I picked him because I didn't want to say the next guy in line.
  4. I picked Arnsparger because he is the first coach I really remember and have memories of understanding the whole process, etc. But I had been going to games and tailgating with me parents since befroe I could walk!
  5. Nick Saban. Unfortunately it's NOT a reflection of my age. My IQ maybe, but not my age.
    2 people like this.
  6. arnspargers first year was the year i started following lsu football.
