1. Actually, this brings up a question that I never had the balls to ask since it's pretty stupid... But, is it possible that LSU, or any other school in the SEC, could schedule another SEC team that isn't on their schedule? For instance, could we have added South Carolina or UGA or Kentucky since we don't play them this season? My guess is NO, but I'll never know if I don't ask :hihi:.
  2. No way!? You've GOT to be kidding! Division II!? That's like a really good high school team, seriously. That would be like LSU playing De La Salle High or Evangel (well the Evangel of years past,) or Texas High.
  3. I don't think anyone has said it... but...

Why not start playing the florida teams?

    Miami? Florida state?

    Just a thought...

I mean I think I would do wonders for LSU's already stellar recruiting...

Miami area alone has a plethora of quality recruits...

    Opinions on florida teams?
  4. You're right... it's actually Div I-2A... but prior to the 12th game thing, you could count a Div I-2A game (every other year) to your 6 win total needed to be bowl eligible. Now, with the new 12th game ruling, you can count a Div I-2A each year.... 'cuz they've been worried about not having enough 6 win teams for all the bowls.

This thing just reeks of $$$... and guess who pays for it?
  5. I doubt that would have much influence for the individual schools since we all split the TV revenue, in the SEC with 11 other teams. The amount of money we would get from ABC wouldn't equal the rvenue we would lose by playing on the road. I think if they want to play a home and home it will be due to other reasons.
  6. The Texas/THEosu game this fall was signed predicated on ABC having the game nationally at night in prime time both years.
I'm just saying this is the kind of motivation needed to have any of the top teams give up a year's revenue of a 7th home game.
I'm also saying the NCAA could have done a number of things to "encourage" bigger match-ups... the best being to add another conference game.... but instead they just made it easier to count a DIV I-2A towards the six wins needed for bowl eligibility.
As fans, we would like to think these decisions are about us (at some level).... after you pay good money to watch your Tigers pound NE Louisiana the next few years... you will see that it's not!! (can you tell this issue chaps the hell out of me?)
  7. Why would we be "pounding NE Louisiana" for the next few years? And why would it matter? ULM (Northeastern) is Division I, but even still, IAA isn't AS bad as Division II. Division II is just total anihilation, even to some IAA schools.
  8. yeah...and its hard to boycott that, because your boycotting your own team...
  9. Minnesota is looking for a rotation of North Dakota, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, and Montana State. Kentucky is looking to add Murray State, Western Kentucky, and Eastern Kentucky. D-1AA teams will be booked before everyone gets a date. Some bigtime league is going to have member stuck with playing LSU...
  10. We rotate in the Big Ten, just like the SEC, ACC, etc. In 2005 & 2006, Iowa doesn't play either Michigan State or Penn State. In 2007 & 2008, we don't play either Ohio State or Michigan.
I'm sure you have similar situations in the SEC.
Adding a 12th game... then having everyone running around to find some "quality opponent" is , well, silly, when they're right there in your own backyard.
The 12th game concept passed because all the big teams are convinced they'll get the money from a 7th home game every year... not every other year. As fans (you, us and everyone else in a major conference) will be paying full fare to see Northern Iowa or Western Kentucky... it's about revenue, not quality opponents.
