That's an easy one. For the same reason most were concerned before there was a QB change, we don't have a proven quality QB.
I think that is more than compensated for by an improved passing threat. The book on beating LSU in the last two years has been to stack the line, stop the run, and dare Jefferson to throw. Teams that could do that did well against LSU. I don't think it is the busted play where we miss Jefferson, it is the quarterback draw, the Keeper, and the other designed quarterback runs. Jefferson did that quite well and managed to stay healthy, which is amazing. It usually doesn't pay to run your starter that much in the SEC.
Red, I agree. Looking at the situation another way, consider the following: Through the first 11 games, JL has ZERO interceptions and 7 touchdown passes. Is it possible to be 10-1 or 11-0 going into the Arkansas game? Sure, but not probable. I had rather see JL with 5 interceptions and 27 touchdown passes. Now that could definitely give the Tigers at least 10 wins going into the Arky game. Folks need to consider: how many TDs was JJ responsible for by running? Was it worth it to go 0fer for 8 consecutive games in the passing TD category? I don't think so. Scoring TDs is a simple matter no matter how they are scored - add them up and look at the total. I'll settle for 49 TDs this year - how about you?
i think the main thing is how well lsu's D stops their O. other than that its how much confidence does jl have, especially after the first hit or first int. if he starts throwing off his backfoot...
