:geaux: And he should know. He was a 2* coming to LSU and he did pretty well. This class is gonna be fine. :thumb: :LSU231:
Look at the teams that consistently stay in the top teams in the country and you will see that darn near all of them also were consistently in the top 20 in recruiting. However, if you keep pulling in top 1,2 or 3 classes each year your pretty much going to be one of the top 5 teams in the country year in and year out. So in my opinions stars do matter when you get tons of them.
I'll tell you why ... We had 5 Star QB Gunner Kiel and lost him. He was a pro-style QB many of us have been begging for. We replaced him with a 3 Star, 280 lb QB. We couldn't keep in-state 5 Star S Landon Collins. We had the 4 Star OT all set to enroll early and couldn't take him because of numbers. He went to Auburn instead. We thought we had a shot at a 5 Star CB from FL, a 5 Star DE from TX and a 5 Star Junior College WR but all of those guys signed elsewhere. We even had a stud 4 Star OLB flip to TX today. I do, however, really like the class. We addressed many needs and signed a ton of really athletic young men.
Corey Thompson's Dad, Tony played at A&M. A good friend of mine coached him in college. More on Corey.......this is a big kid with great bloodlines.
Nice write up with some surprising numbers comparing this class to the almighty 2011 class. Puts things into perspective. Especially for those who rely on stars and rankings. Signing Day Recap | February
