I am offended by the purple and gold battle flag because It makes LSU similar to Ole Myth. That offends me.
So if Ole Miss didn't fly the flag, then it wouldn't be a problem. Hmmm...interesting proposition. Hadn't thought of that. lefire: Nevertheless, that indicates that you give a crap what some idiots think about LSU, so I think you'd still fall into my classification of those that get offended. :thumb:
What's more important to you, A) waving a purple and gold confederate flag or B) winning more national championships If it offends some players on the team and their families, and potential recruits, Einstein, then GET RID IF IT. Oh, and i got my degree when you were flunking Social Studies in Junior High.
My letter to the editor Let me start this letter by saying I am a proud Southerner. I am the descendant of a Confederate soldier. I am a member of the Sons of the Confederacy. I think Abe Lincoln was a dictator. I believe the South was right. I fly both the Stainless Banner and the Confederate Battle Flag every year on Confederate Veteran’s day. I very much believe that people who find the flag offensive are either ignorant or brainwashed by the evil Yankee propaganda machine. The Confederate States of America and its symbols are very dear to me. I am also against the purple and gold Battle Flag. My opposition does not extend from some erroneous notion of racism. I think my position is something every LSU fan, even proponents in the flag, should agree with. Flying Confederate Flags at football games is an Ole Miss thing. Allow me to reiterate. We are stealing a piece of tradition from Ole Miss. That is the equivalent of Donald Trump stealing from Rufus the Stunt Bum. I say put down your purple and gold battle flags, and stop imitating Ole Myth. In closing, Geaux to Hell Ole! Geaux to Hell!
i agree. but i'll still be offended when Saltyone, Jed, Jethro, and Elly Mae and the rest, ruin my Saturday Nights. the confederate flag has its place, and is rich in tradition, symbolizing, to me, the rich, family, heritage; traditional values of the South. But if it all of a sudden offends players and recruits, DROP IT
That's right. Screw freedom of speech, expression, etc. and forget a little thing called the Constitution, all for the sake of the almighty sport of football. :dis: I love LSU football just as much as anyone else on this board, but lets get real here...any recruit who chooses not to come to LSU because of a Purple and Gold Confederate flag that isn't even flown over every single tailgate can take his ass elsewhere. There are much worse reasons not to attend a school.
