The only thing that would change Clemson to ATL for the CFA would be Georgia Tech beating FSU for the ACCCG. That would put FSU in ATL. Sure, there's a chance. Very unlikely.
Ugh. The ACC championship game. Have they moved it to a high school field, yet? The empty seats wouldn't be nearly as noticeable that way. I don't know what's a sadder mark on the ACC...the fact that the CG venue is always 80% empty or that a 6-6 Ga Tech team is representing its division. God forbid the Noles shit the bed and a 7-6 team get into the BCS.
So Cotton for us. UGA would end up in the chicken bowl with a loss (don't laugh guys--that's where we ended up in '05 after losing to UGA in the SECCG) and Bama might, too, since they were in Dallas 4 months ago AND didn't sell out (Jerry was begging people who held Cotton Bowl tickets the last two seasons to buy tickets to Bama vs. Michigan.
Must have found some takers. The attendance of 90, 413, for the Alabama vs Michigan, set the Cowboy Stadium record for a college football game.
I'm just going by emails my Aggie friends who had attended the LSU vs. A & M Cotton Bowl were forwarding to me a couple of weeks before the game. The LSU vs. Oregon game was a sell-out from day one.
It certainly was a sell out, and with no doubt wasn't nearly as quick as the LSU vs Oregon game. Hell, we were still talking about when the ticket office was going to release the damn tickets in the summer of this year when Michigan had already sold out their allotment. If I'm not mistaken, the ticket office in Tuscaloosa still hadn't decided how many points you needed to get first shot at the tickets in June.
