With all the potential at WR it would be nice to go with a QB that has the ability to get them the ball. Especially a QB that will be throwing passes to them for the next three years.

Bottomline is NEITHER should be a starter......
We have QB A and QB B, A plays first then B gets his turn.

Its called a 2 QB system and we have it because both QB's are too inconsistant to be
a "starter" so you should play them both and go with whichever QB is hot for that game.

I really hope these Randall vs Russell threads end soon because I'm ready to pull my
hair out! :dis:

I agree with you 100%, but watch out! I made similar statements in eariler posts and got bashed by a few people. Someone even went as far as to say that I wet my pants every time Rusell walks by....

Makes no never mind.....I still feel the same way you do, and agree that if you have a FRESHMAN who's , like you said, "equal" to a 5th year Sr, then I just have to give the nod to the Frosh....

The coaches spend waaaaaaaaay more time with the players and know their strengths and weaknesses better than we do. I've seen people make some good points on this forum both ways. This is a forum for open discussion. However, as for me, I will defer to the coaching staff who produced a National Championship for our school.

it was me I said that and I stand by it. I haven't defended either QB's playing yet I have consistantly said ONE of them needs to step up.

Now it just so happens that's Coach Saban's take on it. and no I didn't ask him. :dis:
Dahm sometimes it sucks being right all the time. read it and weep.
here is what an objective onlooker has to say about the 2 QB situation.
Coach Nick Saban on the 2 QB situation

    On the LSU quarterback situation...
"I know you want to ask about the quarterback position, but somebody's got to take the bull by the horns at this position to get the kind of execution that we need. We get it at times from both guys and at times we get inconsistencies at that position. What affects the team is the inconsistent play, not who's playing. When we've got a guy wide open and we throw it five feet in the dirt in front of him, that's what hurts the team."

"So, it's not who's playing, it's the consistency that we get at the position. And both guys do some things well, and they make some mistakes that they need to improve on so that we get more consistent execution at that position. I think that is what will create the rhythm that we need for our team. I don't really care who does it or when it happens, the sooner the better, but somebody needs to do that. And I'm not sure that that's happened quite yet. We're going to continue to work with both guys, and we believe in both guys."

Sigh.... I will make a post on the quarterbacks after all......

It just irks me that people seem to be OBLIVIOUS to the initial scoring drive of the game. Randall threaded the needle on some passes, including the touchdown pass to Bowe. People seem to ignore such things though...... and say he can't pass, coaches have no confidence in him, blah blah blah....

.....going back to the rafters now.......

from what i saw against auburn randall needs to be the starter. russell has a great arm, but it takes more than that to be a good qb. i think randall gives us a better chance to win. we arent playing for next year, we are playing for this year. next year will take care of itself.

if i were coach id probably start randall based on how this season has gone. if randall isnt getting it done, russell goes in. if russell cant get it done, i either put randall back in or try matt flynn. but i would give them each a chance to succeed.

our defense wasnt perfect against auburn, but if the offense would have been competent we would have won this game. im sure auburn could have played better as well, though. i would have kept going to the tight ends and put a player in returning kicks that can actually run. that and corey webster is too important on defense to be fooling around anywhere else (this might be affecting his defensive output). and skyler green shouldnt be playing hurt. let the guy heal up so he can come back and play at or close to 100%.
