Ah, the Bossier Strip. My friend, those were some dive bars with some ugly strippers. Not that I visited them regularly you understand. :hihi:

Two points that this guy missed or omitted that show me he didn't do much homework. The economy of SHV was what it was LONG before the Casino's showed up in early 90's. I would venture to say the largest USAF Bomb Wing
in the world in addition to a USAFR Wing and a the HDQ of a USAF numbered AF have probably contributed to a few dollars in SHV market.

I'm not sure why they are there but Hollywood has definitely found SHV in recent years with their very "pro Hollywood" environment. I have a longtime
friend that has a VERY NICE crib on Cross Lake and has already rented it to
Kevin Costner, Tom Cruise, and has Steven Seagal coming next year, he turned down Meg Ryan since she only wanted his place for 6 weeks vs "his standard" 3 months.:geaux:

It was certainly good enough for LSU in 90's. It gave Rondell Meally a chance to run all over ND.:miles: :laflagwav

Well, I come from a little town about 10 miles east of Baton Rouge and given
the standard LA. has lived by since time began, "they will come, THEN we will build roads, schools (kind of), sewage, electricity" on and on. I can say that town gives me the same impression. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought people WOULD MOVE FROM Baton Rouge TO DENHAM SPRINGS!

My very few visits back there since Katrina have convinced me since they STILL have a handle on building roads;) , it will remain what it is now, a place to visit and then leave.

However, having lived in SHV for 7 years, since my kids are done with
school, I could easily live on Cross Lake.

I may laugh at Shreveport (although B.R. isn't much either), but I will never laugh at their bowl. I was too happy back in the 90s when we FINALLY played a bowl game to be a hypocrite about it now. Dude, it was such a big deal that my boss let me off work early to see the start of the game.

not being from louisiana i have no bias. and yes, shreveport blows. it is like the middle of mississippi with a town. a town that shouldnt exist for the good of all mankind.

however, it is better than detroit. lucky shreveport.

I think that SHV needs to be incorporated as part of Alabama...It could be an enclave...Just like West Berlin was an enclave in East Germany.

if you really believe that, then the collective IQ of this forum has gone way, way down. lol

    I hope that was sarcasm.

Detroit as one of the major cities in America blows for the most part, but it is 100 times better than Shreveport.
