I haven't actually missed Nick that much. But now that you mention his rants, I do miss that. He had this interesting quality, like you say, ultra professional, just up to the point that he just let it go for a few seconds, and man he really let it rip!!! It wasn't fake, and you can't fake it. It was real, and everybody knew it. Great actors are great because they can create that intensity when its not real, and the rest of us marvel at their ability to do it. On the other hand, I have never heard his players say they loved their coach (Nick), or that they missed him. I think they like the more supportive style of Les, but I've never spoken to one of them, so I could be wrong. I'm going off film, like the Katrina film special. But, I miss Nick's rants, a little. Les has won as much as Nick did, but has not put the team on a 5 game run where they looked dominant each week. That was one of Nick's neat tricks, getting the team on a roll at the end of the year. I swear in 2001, the last four games of the season, I thought LSU was the best team in the nation. I would have lined up against anyone and put my money on LSU to win. We were plain old hot, and killed Tenn. and Illinios in the Sugar, I wish we had played a better team, and we'd have killled them too. Rohan and Josh Reed were unstoppable at that point. Looked like Nick was losing it at Miami, but he's getting it back together, won a few games lately, may get back to .500, I hope so, I wish him nothing but the best. I notice he doesn't rant on the sideline in the NFL.
