this is an odd story. What I don't understand is what the hell is a Cliven Bundy's son doing in Oregon?

Now they have occupied this refuge, and have sworn to use deadly force against the Feds if they try to take it back.

This dude is is a nut. How can he just occupy some place and threaten people with violence if they try to come take it. Isn't he from Arizona too? What the hell is going on here?

They're batshit crazy and have no idea how at odds their words and actions are with the foundation of our country. Bundy et al aren't heroes but vandals.

Depends on how far back you go, kinda. Bundy comes from a long line of ranchers stretching back to the Wild West. His dispute with the government began about 1993 when the bureau changed grazing rules for the 600,000-acre Gold Butte area to protect an endangered desert tortoise. Our country was founded on less government and something about taxes and economic interests.

Not disagreeing that there is good reason to be distressed by recent actions of the feds. Our country was founded on protecting citizens from an over powerful central government (The Bill of Rights central theme). In this case it appears a federal district judge is following some sort of grudge or over stepping his bounds. However the Hammonds were NOT protesting but following legal procedure and reporting for jail while they pursued their legal possibilities. They asked NO ONE do what Bundy is doing.
Bundy et al are either engaging in armed rebellion or an act of grand standing. They ARE NOT standing for the traditions of the US but looking only for their selfish purposes.

I don't see why the guys who set the fire were sent to prison at all if the fire helped stop wildfires from spreading to their land. Seems more like a fine would be in order. But for the judge to order them back to prison after they had already swerved the sentences imposed by the court is just plain wrong.
