Every other year we play Arkansas during the day on a Friday and it begs the question...will our supposed SEC "rival" ever experience the real Death Valley? Having been to the last few LSU-Arkansas games in Baton Rouge I probably wouldn't see what all the fuss is about if I were an Arkansas fan. At least with the other schools they know how it can get.

The question is, Does Arkansas want to see the real tiger stadium? If I remember correctly Death Vally was rockin in 1999, Ark was highly ranked and we had fired Dinardo, they came in exspecting a cakewalk and ran into a Tiger by the name of Rohan Davey!

60 minutes is 60 minutes wheather the sun is shining or not!!!!

I remember that game in 99. Don't remember Tiger Stadium being too crowded that day, what with us being 2-8 and taking place the day after Thanksgiving. The game itself was awesome and the fans that were there were nice and loud.

I think it was a night game, but I'm getting older and may be mistaken!

I can't remember the year, but I remember they (arkie) came into Tiger Stadium w/only the battle cry of "bowl busters". they were already assured of a loosing season, but we were playing for a bowl birth. Sadly, we couldn't get it done. Either Hallman, or Dinardo were coach. :lsug: :helmet:

That was 93...Hallman was the coach...

As for the 99 game...it was decent I suppose, but it was a day game with many empty seats...it was not even close to what it was for say Tennesee, Alabama, or Mississippi State in 2000 or Auburn in 2001.

The 99 game was played the week that DiNardo was fired with an assistant coach being promoted to head coach for that one game. I didn't go to that game but I think it was a very cold and miserable overcast day. A lot of ticket holders chose to spend that day on the couch in front of the tube. I went duck hunting that day (a great day for ducks) and I couldn't even find anybody to give my tickets to for free. I ended up watching the game in a bar in Lafayette on the way back to Baton Rouge.

I guess the hogs will never see the real Death Valley for years to come. Good point.

LSU just has to beat them anyway. We do not need an excuse for a win over the hogs.

P.S. I will bet anyone on this board, $200.00, that we beat Ark this year and get the boot back. Bets accepted between 8/01/03 - 8/15/03

Ever since the early 90's I always liked Arkansas fans. Never had a problem with them outside Death Valley...

Yeah, it was. It wasnt terribly cold, but it was cool and very wet. I dont remember seeing very many people there, either. Hell, I was in the band and most of us didnt want to be there either. We had already been to 8 losses in a row.

Anybody remember the Florida game from that year? There was a torrential downpour the entire game. There was standing water all the way around the field, right up to the sidelines. The coaches were probably standing in 2-3 inches of water. The next day, we (Tiger Band) had to go sit in our saturated uniforms in the 60 degree Super Dome to watch the Saints lose. Oh, what a weekend.

Oh boy do I....I remember that game like it was yesterday because Florida actually didn't play all that well and if we had a decent team that year we might have given them a run....it is sitting through games like that which make the good years and the big wins so much sweeter.

As for the Arkansas game...I guess I would just like for them to experience the real Tiger Stadium once in awhile if they are supposed to be our rival and all.
