If he leaves i really wonder who they will get to replace him.....my guess will be his main assistant...Johnny Dawkins i think his name is....that is if whole staff doesnt go with him.

Johnny Dawkins is his name and would be his obvious replacement. Recruiting might take a hit, but there wouldn't be much of a recruiting drop off if K left.

He is now getting outbid for the players by the pros. See Chris Duhon and his mother for any who do not believe Duke buys players.

alaman, I just don't buy it and hate to see guys post stuff like that without any proof at all. The Miami board had the same stuff about how Saban bought Dwayne Bowe and said just go look at his grandmothers car. Either prove it or leave it alone.

Well at the current trend, if Coach K does become the Lakers head coach, he can draft ALL high school players and have basically a college basketball team in 3-4 years.

All the more reasons to HATE pro sports.

Coach K needs to stay put.

College basketball needs him more than Duke does.

Not unlike Nick Saban and college football.

    Duke cheating?

The Times Picayune ran a big article on this a year or so ago. As soon as he graduated, he and mom moved to Duke. Prior to move, she was poor, did not live in a good house and did not have a good job or education. After move, she bought a nice house and started driving a big new car. Got an excellent job with a company owned by a big booster who had a record of hiring the parents of athletes. Interviews with quotes from employees all said she was overqualified for her position and salary and basically did nothing. They said she was hired, as were others, because of and as an inducement to sign with Duke. The company and booster were named.

Not my words but those of the T-P and employees where his mom worked. This is cheating. The T-P would not have direct quotes if not true. Go and find the T-P article.

Perhaps I am over-reacting here but......

The more I think about thiis, the more I worry about college basketball. Coach K is an icon for the sports. Having seen some reports about how he is frustrated with losing players to the pros..... This would be a major blow to college basketball. Not only are the best players opting to leave college early and some skip it completely, but one of its best coaches could be leaving as well.

I think of future years of college basketball and wonder if the quality of play will drop off. Will the game degenerate to a point that it is simply not nearly as enjoyable to watch? Hopefully this will not happen. I realize that it is tough for anyone to pass up on becoming an instant-millionaire but it seems there needs to be some rule instated by the NBA to lessen the impact.

No need to worry, Coack K won't be going anywhere, he has a lifetime contract at Duke, the floor is freaking named after him, he will catch Dean Smith in all time win's, and he doesn't need more money. He is like a god at Duke (like Saban if he stays another 10 years at LSU) I know his family is happy in Durham, not to mention that Duke is the premiere college coaching gig in the country. He has every reason to stay, he'll be back.
