seems like a reasonable article to me.

i agree that lsu settled for him, but that was necessary because of the circumstances (st nick's timing).

he should have mentioned the apparently excellent staff clm has accumulated and the great recruiting job he has done so far.

    clm's resume is a hell of a lot more impressive than dinardo's, hallman's, archer's, stovall's. i feel fine.

One of the biggest compliments i have heard so far that makes me think Coach Miles will do fine is the complement Dandy Don gave him when he said his practices are just as or if not more organized than Saban's.

That tells me he doesnt waste time and knows what he is doing. He has shown at Ok St he knows how to manage football games in the heat of battle.

It is not important for players to like their Coach but it is important the players respect them.

I think Coach Miles has the players respect.

I like him and i like the way he has handled himself.

Maybe the SEC East folks are running a little scared based on LSU and Auburn past 2 seasons.

But Miles' OSU teams didn't have the talent on the defensive side of the ball that we have here. Also, Miles' didn't have a DC the likes of Pelini in Stillwater either. Bill Clay is a far cry from the Pelini-coached Nebraska team that led the nation in turn-over ratio and was a domant force...

I remember Miles' saying in one of his interviews (following the loss to OU) by saying something along the lines of, "You can't ask a player to do something that he knows he can't do..." Basically, Miles just didn't have all the "horses" he needed on defense to stop powerful offenses such as OU, Texas and Texas Tech....

Let's say for a minute that Les Miles is not as good a coach as Nick Saban, just for arguments sake. I'd say based on accomplishments, that's true. Nick had 2 championships in a major conference, and 1 NC. Skip Bertman said Nick was the best coach he had seen in any sport, high praise.

Nick did not seem to be known for his pleasantries. Some assistants didn't stay long under Nick. Could have been Nick, what he demanded they do, could have been Nick not letting them talk to the press, or him being the def. coord. and secondary coach himself. But some of them left.

If we compare the assistant coaches under Les to the staff under Nick, (I saw it somewhere, maybe in this forum?), it appeared to me that Les's staff had a better set of resumes than Nick's did.

Now it that's true, Maybe Nick was better than Les, but Les and his staff may be better than Nick and his staff.

Suppose Les's more personable side allows him to attract and retain better assistants in the long run?

I don't know these assistants, so this post is a stretch, but here is an opptimistic theory.

I'd be curious to see what was written about Jimmy Johnson after he left OSU to take over Miami after Miami had won the NC the year before.

Not saying that Les will be another Jimmy Johnson but opinions are like *********s................etc.

Let's see how the next three years pan out before making a decision.

I will say that with this talent LSU has if we did lose four games this year it would seem there might be cause for concern.

I would expect the worst case scenerio for Les this year would be a three loss season. Think about that for a moment. Three losses? A first year coach with a new system and new assistants?

That would be an absolute travesty.
