I didnt' say I thought he had been offered, I don't think any coach gets an offer until our bowl game. I'm just reporting. I'm sure Nutt will be the ruler of the first page all day tom....unless rumors break about the next Sexton SEC client.

OK, let's see what happens tomorrow...

I've thought about it ... I think Nutt is a good coach. I did some reading up on him on an Arkansas website. The guy has done well at Arkansas, this year notwithstanding. But he's from Arkansas, he's home -- he's a good fit for them, I just don't see him as a good fit in Baton Rouge. I would really be surprised if Skip pulls the trigger on this tomorrow as is being rumored. Supposedly Nutt said he wouldn't talk unless he was the #1 candidate and would be quickly offered the job. Again, I can't see how Skip would view him as head and shoulders above the other potential candidates, to just up and give him the job this soon. If he's the best out there, after a search, in Skip's opinion, then perhaps I could be sold. I hope you guys are right and that this is just another internet rumor.

Wrong. USC won the Rose Bowl and was the AP champion. LSU was the College Football National Champion in 2003.
(If I live to be 100, I will continue to point this out at every opportunity).

Sounds like Skip is getting desperate.

This is what happens when you are the last program that needs a coach . . . you get to pick from the runts of the litter.

Please help us, Nutt. Oh please no. I really hope Skip is just intervieiwing everyone.

This would be a sad day for LSU if Nutt is seriously considered...

Hmm...digging a bit deeper on John Cooper:

--Coop has an awesome career record, posting an 82-40 record at Ariz St and a 111-43 record at Ohio St (276-83 combined, or approx 77% winning percentage). He won or shared three Big Ten titles and won at least one Pac 10 while at ASU.

--The Luckeyes paid him $1.8 to buy out the rest of his contract, which was slated to end in..2004. How convenient.

--He's definitely a college lifer, never setting foot in the pros as a coach. HC at Tulsa and assistant at places like UCLA, Kentucky and Oregon St., to name a few. This would definitely be his last job, no question.

--Guy is old, though, tipping the scales at a robust 67 years of age. That's Granny Holtz-old, man.

Too bad Coop wasn't at least 10 years younger, or he'd be an intriguing darkhorse candidate, IMO.
