San Diego is a real fit for Petey. A poster mentioned "unless there's some internal issues at USC that I don't know about"! How could anyone not know about the issues with USC right now? I think this is a real possibility. Strange how Marty got axed so late.
Re: Pete Carroll to San Diego Pete Carroll should rethink his position about total control because other coaches have tried that and have totally failed. Not many coaches can succeed in todays NFL with total control. There isn't enough time in the day for that not to mention watching game film and coaching. Then you have the salary cap and players with attitude to deal with. Seems to me *any* college gig would be better but I do think the Chargers would be the one golden opportunity out there for anyone to maybe win a Superbowl and a National Championship to the likes of JJ, Barry Switzer, (fraud), etc. I say fraud because Barry won it with JJ's team.
Re: Pete Carroll to San Diego It has been rumored. It's not like the idea was pulled out of the air. http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm You have to scroll down a bit to see the whole write-up.
when i say internal i mean petey's relationship with AD and powers that be. the ncaa isn't going to do anything to their golden program. they may lose a few recruiting visits at the most.
If Pete would go it would shock me but with some of the allegations towards USC maybe this is his perfect out. But he has it made in USC.. He keeps bringing in top 5 recruiting classes, has a good team each year and is basically a god in California. My opinion is he will stay at USC.
The "rumor" may have legs but the validity of it WAY off. Unless there is something out of the ordinary brewing at USuCk, Petey is not going to leave anytime soon. For all the reasons caddy posted, it just aint gonna happen. Wishful thinking at best.
I was wondering about that myself. San Diego has everything in place to win a super bowl in the next few years. No rebuilding required unless he wants his own staff.
